Dear Dr. Bruce,

At the beginning of this class, it was clear that the primary goal was to develop advanced
college writing skills to apply both in career goals and real life. The purpose of writing in this
class was to provide clear and concise arguments, solidly evidenced while considerate of
potential audiences in a highly organized and elevated academic style. Throughout the semester,
a plethora of assignments created specifically to develop the mastery of our class Student
Learning Outcomes demonstrated the growth and accomplishment of meeting these at the end of
the semester. The documents I have included show both the development, tuning, and evaluation
completion of these outcomes, which are shown in my Annotated Bibliography, my Cover Letter,
and my Minor Assignments.

The first assignment that have included is my Revised Annotated Bibliography, which
demonstrates a thorough understanding and comprehension of ethical research, academic
language and design, and persuasive argument SLOs. The assignment displays that ethical
research and citation style has been achieved as the document ethically cite and communicate
information from a variety of discipline-appropriate sources. For example, the document relies
heavily on the research conducted by academics, as well as opinions from professionals related
to the topic. Secondarily, the document shows a mastery of academic language and design as the
annotated bibliography demonstrates and employment of the features and contexts of language
and design that express and influence meaning. Thirdly, the persuasion of argument is achieved
in my document by concisely stating my argument, as well as acknowledging counterarguments.

The second and third minor assignments I have included are both my Peer Review of
Group Definition: Solitary Confinement and my Lesson Response to Activity 15. These
documents demonstrate the SLO of collaboration, ethical research, and rhetorical focus.
In the first assignment, the Peer Review, I again demonstrate knowledge of ethical research by
suggesting that the group adapt their citations to properly show APA format. Also, the Peer
review done with the use of two classmates demonstrates the mastery of the collaboration SLO
that shows a competency to both critique anothers work in hopes to improve, as well as
improving my own work with our own groups review by our peers. In my Lesson Response to
Activity 15 I achieve the SLO of rhetorical focus in response to Dr. Bruces essay prompt. In the
assignment, I show consideration of my audience, Dr. Bruce, when attempting to revise my
Cover Letter. To show this, I revised the cover letter to specifically align with Dr. Bruces
expectations as the audience.
The last demonstration of SLO mastery comes from this Cover Letter, in which I practice
the use of rhetorical focus and organization and focus. The Cover Letter again shows a
demonstration of rhetorical focus as I tune the document for the audience of future employers to
demonstrate competency in advanced writing. The second SLO achieved in the Cover Letter is
organization and focus, in which the document is organized to show competency of SLO by each
document. The organization demonstrates an ability to organize and clearly state each argument
and supporting evidence by paragraph.
