temperatures are adjustable, see the instructions on the previous pages.
CAUTION: At the end of the cooking time, take care of escaping steam
when opening the lid to avoid scalding.
CAUTION: Take extreme care when taking the inner cooking pot with

AUS 1300 886 649 MODEL: KY-385 PRODUCT CODE: 50844 08/2015
Instructions (Cont.)
Slow Cook
This program is designed for cooking dishes at a low temperature over a
long time. It is perfect for slow cooking less expensive cuts of meat, as the
extended cooking time produces tender results. It does not include automatic
stirring action, but you can select manual stirring, if desired. Just ensure the
stirring paddle is properly fitted before adding ingredients.
Cooking times vary and depend on the food being cooked. The default
cooking time for this setting is 6 hours, but you can adjust this as per your
recipe. As a general rule, cooking food on the slow cook setting at around
85C should take approximately 68 hours, or 45 hours at around 100C.
At the end of the cooking time, the appliance will automatically enter warm-
keeping mode.
For best results:
If the food needs to be stirred half-way through the cooking time, use the
manual stirring function when required, do not open the lid during cooking.
We recommend searing meat and sauting flavouring ingredients on the
Sear/Saut setting first for better flavour development. To do this, preheat the
unit, covered, for 23 minutes on the Sear/Saut setting.
Add a little oil or cooking fat to the inner pot and sear meat pieces and saut
flavouring ingredients (such as onions, garlic, ginger, chilli, etc.) for a few
minutes using manual stirring action.
Stop the stirring action and press the OFF | KEEP WARM button.
Add any other ingredients as per your recipe, including liquid (see the notes
below).
Close the lid and press the ON | MENU button until the Slow Cook program is
selected. Keep the lid closed during cooking.
NOTE:
Slow cooking allows for very little evaporation. If making soup, stew or
sauce, reduce the liquid called for in your original recipe. If too thick, add
liquid later.
The higher the fat content of the meat, the less liquid is needed.
If cooking meat with a high fat content, place thick onion slices underneath
so the meat will not sit on (and cook in) the fat.
Some foods are not suited for extended cooking on this setting. Pasta,
seafood, milk, cream or sour cream should be added 2 hours before
serving.

stirring action, but you can select manual stirring, if desired. Just ensure the
stirring paddle is properly fitted before adding ingredients.
Cooking times vary and depend on the food being cooked. The default cooking
time for this program is 70 minutes, but you can adjust it according to your
recipe.
At the end of the cooking time, the multi-cooker will automatically enter
warm-keeping mode.
For best results:
We recommend searing meat and sauting flavouring ingredients on the
Sear/Saut setting first for better flavour development see page 21.
After having seared the meat, press the OFF | KEEP WARM button.
Add any other ingredients as per your recipe, including liquid.
Close the lid and press the ON | MENU button until the Stew program is

This program is designed for roasting meat or cooking pot roasts that fit into
the interior cooking pot at 130C. This cooking temperature is not adjustable.
Roasting times vary and depend on the type, cut and quantity of meat. The
default cooking time is 60 minutes, but you can adjust this as desired.
At the end of the cooking time, the multi-cooker will automatically enter
warm-keeping mode.
For best results:
Close the lid and preheat the appliance for 23 minutes on the Roast
setting. Then add a little oil or cooking fat into the preheated pot and let it

Instructions (Cont.)
Stir Fry
This program is designed for stir frying meat and/or vegetables with
automatic stirring action, so make sure the stirring paddle is properly fitted
before adding ingredients. The default cooking time is 35 minutes, but you
can adjust this according to your recipe.
At the end of the cooking time, the multi-cooker will not enter warm-keeping
mode automatically, as stir fried food is best eaten straight away. However,
you may add a manual warm-keeping cycle, if you wish.
For best results:
Close the lid and preheat the cooker on the Stir Fry program for a few minutes.
Open the lid, add a little oil or cooking fat into the preheated pot and let it heat
up before adding ingredients.
If your ingredients require different cooking times, add them to the pot in the
appropriate order. For example, meat and/or root vegetables first, then green
vegetables or fish, which require shorter cooking times.
Leave the pot open during cooking to avoid stewing the ingredients.

Steam
The Multi-Cooker comes complete with a stainless steel steamer basket so
you can use the appliance for steaming food. Stirring is not required during
steaming, so there is no need for the stirring paddle.
The default cooking time is 30 minutes, but you can adjust this accoridng to
the food. Keep in mind that it will take some time for the water to heat up.
At the end of the cooking time, the multi-cooker will automatically enter
warm-keeping mode.
For best results:
Fill approximately 600mL water in the inner cooking pot. Do not overfill, the
steamer basket should be above the water level during steaming.
Place the steamer basket into the inner pot, it should rest on the inside rim.
Place the food to be steamed inside the steamer basket.
Close the lid and press the ON | MENU button to select the Steam program.
Close the lid and keep it closed during cooking.

CAUTION: Take extreme care and use oven mitts to avoid scalding when
removing the steamer basket from the pot. Both pot and basket will be very
hot, and hot steam will escape when removing the lid.

With automatic stirring action, this program takes all the hard work out of
cooking risotto. Just make sure the stirring paddle is properly fitted before

The default cooking time is 35 minutes, but you can adjust this if your type of
rice or ingredients require more or less cooking time.
At the end of the cooking time, the multi-cooker will automatically enter
