Instruct Continue there to the SAT spelling list. This prepares them for their
ional future testing but also keeps up with their spelling skills; making sure
Activitie that they are improving at all times since SAT spelling lists are often
s and updated. Apps such as MindSnacks, PowerVocab and SAT Vocab are all
Procedu apps they can get on their smart phones in order to keep up with their
res spelling even when they are out of the class. Online resources such as
http://www.satvocabwords.com/ is what I would use myself in order to
create the SAT spelling lists.
For an exit ticket I would use the following worksheet:

This is just a refresher sheet really, by each time they will become a bit
more difficult and I would even put their SAT words.
Using these worksheets allow for the students to not only to learn but
also have a little fun with the topic. Teaching topics such as grammar
or spelling can be kind of dry, so focusing on something that the
students wont feel to suffocate by.
During each step of the day, I would a scaffolding as a way to slowly let
the student take over without completely leaving they stressed and
confused. I really agree with Piagets idea of children not being empty
vessels waiting to be filled with knowledge. By using his theory, I am
able to target the true needs of the student and I would be able to

adjust to their learning abilities.
Modific Spelling isnt easy to learn and it is even harder to teach at this grade.
ation/ For modifications, I would use easier words if it was something small.
Differen But there are also ways to adjust the lesson itself, like reading the
tiated words aloud for the student to hear, and some teachers will even add a
Instruct phonics video from a 7th or 8th grade lesson for extra help.
ion Students who still seem to find themselves struggling can have one on
one instruction with me on a selected day of the week or for a short
time before the class is up. I have known teachers who have put their
students to write reflections about the spelling lesson at the end of the
wee and have them use a set number of spelling words assigned.
I also believe that adding in a spelling workshop, either as a
replacement for a day of class or for tutorials, would be very beneficial
to a student who is struggling with the lesson.
Evaluati A formal spelling test would suffice for this portion of evaluation. More
on creative ways such as having the students spell out a word on a poster
that would be posted on the walls of the classroom. Exit tickets could
also be applied as well as reflections as mentioned earlier.
Closure I feel as if this lesson plan would really fit and cater to each student
because there ae so many thing you could add or edit. I took the best
part of lesson plans and added them together. Most students find it
hard to study spelling separately, but this could also be taught as and
inclusion to a writing prompt or workshop.
