Leviathan
Def- Something very large; giant sea creature in the
Bible.
Pg. 105-- Then the sleeping leviathan breathed out,
the waters rose, the weed streamed, and the water
boiled over the table rock with a roar.
Explain-- They were saying that there was no logical
explanation for the high waves.
Clamor
Def-- A loud outcry ; great expression of discontent.

Pg 108-- The clamor broke out.

Explanation-- The loud outcries broke out from the group. The boys were in
disagreement over what to do, (to go back to the Camp or stay rolling rocks)
Mutinously
Def -- Unruly; insubordinate, or constituting a mutiny

Pg 108-- Mutinously, the boys fell silent or muttering.

Explain-- The boys fell silent, as the made the unruly decision to follow Jack as
their new leader.
Chapter 6 summary
The twins are frightened. They wake up Ralph because they said they saw the
beast. They also said it followed them. The hunt officially begins because of this.
They go to the rocks or what they call the castle. While they were hunting, the
signal fire goes out. Because of this, the boys go back to the top.
Discussion Questions
1.) Why do you think the the boys decided to follow Jack?
2.) Do you think Ralph is getting frightened/ scared that there really is a beast?
3.) Now that the majority of the boys agree that there is something else on the
island with them, what do you think the Beast is?
4.) Why do you think that Ralph jumped up to volunteer to investigate the newly
discovered land instead of the hunter, Jack?
5.) What do you think the structure/ castle, like place the boys found is?
