Fable Story - The Crow and The Sparrow

Once upon a time, a crow and a sparrow bought a farm. They agreed to work
together, and share the crops they grew on their field. One day the sparrow woke up
early and called up the crow, We must plough the land today and prepare it for the
wheat.
The crow thought for a while and answered:
You go ahead, oh sparrow,
Ill put some gold on my beak
And some shoes on my feet,
And then Ill follow after.
So the sparrow worked hard, but the crow never when to the fields. The next day
the sparrow said, We must sow the seeds today. The crow answered,
You go ahead, oh sparrow,
Ill put some gold on my beak
And some shoes on my feet,
And then Ill follow after.
So the sparrow went to plant the seeds. She worked hard and she worked hard
alone.
After some time, when the wheat shoots came out of the ground, the sparrow said
to the crow, We must water out the plants today. But the crow answered.
You go ahead, oh sparrow,
Ill put some gold on my beak
And some shoes on my feet,
And then Ill follow after.
So the sparrow watered all the plants by herself. It was hard and heavy work.
The crow never went near the fields to help.
As the days passed, the wheat grew tall. It turned into a beautiful golden colour.
Soon it was ready to be cut. The sparrow said to the crow,
Now its time to reap. We must go and cut our wheat.
The crow answered:
You go ahead, oh sparrow,
Ill put some gold on my beak
And some shoes on my feet,
And then Ill follow after.
The sparrow flew away. She was sad and disappointed. All day long she cut the
wheat. By nightfall, she had tied it all up in bundles. And she was very tired.
The next day the sparrow said, There are clouds in the sky. We must finish the
threshing before it rains or the wheat will be spoilt. We must beat the wheat so that the
grains fall out. The crow repeated again:
You go ahead, oh sparrow,
Ill put some gold on my beak
And some shoes on my feet,
And then Ill follow after.
For almost a week the sparrow worked day and night. She threshed the grains of
wheat. And for almost a week the crow stayed at home and rested. When the threshing
was done, the sparrow said, Only the winnowing is left. We must finish it before a dust-
storm blows our wheat away. We must shake the grain out of the shell. And the crow
answered:
You go ahead, oh sparrow,
Ill put some gold on my beak
And some shoes on my feet,
And then Ill follow after.
So the sparrow went to the field alone. She separated the wheat into to heaps.
One heap was made of all the rubbish waste and shells. It was very big. The other was
made of grain. It was very small. When all the work was done, the crow said:
Today Im in a mood work,
I dont want to moan,
I know that selling grain is hard
So Ill work and Ill work alone.
The lazy crow had done no work, but now he when and stood near the biggest
pile. The silly crow did not know the difference between grain and chaff. Although the
pile of chaff was much bigger, it was not use for eating. It was all the rubbish. The
sparrow was angry. You silly crow, she thought, I will have all the grain.
When the buyers came the sparrow called out, Who wants to buy my grain?
Grain for sale.
Soon it was all sold, and the sparrow had lots of money.
Then it was the crows turn, Who wants to buy my food? Food for sale.
Everyone laughed at him. Ho! Ho! Ho! Who wants to buy that heap of rubbish? they
jeered. Do you think were so stupid?
They walked away and he was left alone. He had no money but just a big pile of
chaff. And then it was sparrows turn to say to the crow,
Today youre in a mood to cry
But mines a mood to laugh
We bought this farm together
Now you enjoy your half
