Body Paragraph #1:

The American colonists were unjustified in breaking away from Britain because taxes and acts were
fair and for the greater good, unlike the unfairness the Americans deemed the taxes and acts. Some
proof is the Tea Act, the Royal Proclamation, and Considerations.

In Mrs. Pages Road To Revolution Tea Act webpage, it states

The Tea Act imposed no new taxes, it gave a tea monopoly in the American Colonies to British East
India Company, The Tea Act actually made the tea cheaper to the colonists than it had been before.

The Tea Act did not add any taxes, gave British East India Company full control over tea trade, and mae
tea less price for colonists, compared to before.

The Boycotts that were caused by the Tea Act are all unjustified due to the Tea Act being a clear benefit
to the American Colonists, by making tea cheaper and not adding a new tax. The only reason boycotts
occurred was from tea smugglers, like John Hancock, convincing others about how bad the Tea Act
really was, due to them losing business.

In King George IIIs Royal Proclamation(Doc 1), it states

We do hereby strictly forbid, on pain of our displeasure, all our loving subjects from making any
purchase of settlement whatever, or taking possession of any of the lands.

King George III (and god) are preventing the American Colonists from buying or settling on any of the
lands they won during the French and Indian War.

King George IIIs Royal Proclamation against settling west of the Appalachian Mountains is an example
taxes and acts made for the common good because the proclamation was made to protect from the
Indian and contrary to colonist belief, was temporary. Thus, the Americans had no reason to be
disappointed or rebel, because it was for their protection.

In Thomas Whatelys piece, Considerations(Doc 7), it states

They should contribute to the preservation of the advantages they have received.

The Americans have to help pay part of the war debt, to keep the protection the British provided.

Thomas Whatelys argument against American colonists who protested paying war debt through taxes,
is proof the taxes and acts were fair because the Americans needed to help pay for what they asked for,
and to keep it. Meaning, the Americans shouldnt have protested or boycotted for maintaining
something they asked for.
Body Paragraph #2:
One way that patriotism spread was through untrue propaganda such Paul Reveres engraving and Thomas
Paines common sense, as well as the Continental Congress Declaration of Independence. These were just
some of the pieces of biased propaganda being spread by the patriots.

According to Paul Reveres engraving, The Bloody Massacre(doc 6)

Their is a organized group of soldiers firing upon Gages command at a group of unarmed and defenceless
civilians while they retreat in fear.

This image is filled with inaccuracies such as the organized soldier fired upon the command of their commander.
The soldiers were not organized and Gage never gave the command to fire. The crowd was also very much
armed.

This shows that the patriots lied to gain the support of the people. They used this particular example to show the
brutality of the British. This clearly shows that the Patriots lie about events so that the people would give them
undeserved support in the war.

According to Thomas Paines Common Sense, he states that

No man was a warmer wisher for a [peaceful settlement] than myself, before the fatal nineteenth of April

What he is trying to say is that something small,(Britain) should not control something large(America).

Thomas Paines argument against peaceful settlement is proof that the Americans used propaganda to sway
colonist opinion, because when the Americans started their rebellion. News got to the king, which caused him to
turn down the Olive Branch Petition, in fear of strengthening the rebellion.
In the Contine ntal Congre s s Decla ra tion of Independence(Doc 10), it s tate s

A Prince w hos e characte r is thus m ark e d by e ve ry act w hich m ay de fine a Tyrant, is unfit to be the rule r of a fre e pe ople .

What this quote m e ans s that the contine ntal congre s s vie w s alm os t e ve ry m ove of the k ing as a s ign of tyranny

The Contine ntal Congre s s argum e nt agains t the k ing is e vide nce that propaganda playe d a role in the de claration of inde pe nde nce due to
the inform ation give n be ing bias e d and only ne gative s about the k ing. The re w e re als o m any pos itive s about the k ing but the y w e re all
ne gle cte d.

Body Paragraph #3:

The cause of the war and the whole entire justification for breaking away was that the social contract was broken,
but it wasnt. Britain had reasons to take away life, liberty, and property.

According to to Thomas Whately's Considerations(doc 2)

We have not yet recovered from a war undertaken solely for their protection...they should contribute to the
preservation of the advantages they have received

What hes trying to say is that the colonies should pay for a war taken on for their protection (by paying taxes)

This proves that Britain had a right to take away the colonists property(money). They were trying to get the
colonists to pay for their protection during the war. A war that not only put Britain deep into debt but one that was
taken just to defend the colonists. Look at it in modern perspective. If you pay or do a favor for someone, you
expect them to pay you back, right?

According to Mrs.Pages The road to the Revolution webquest

The intolerable acts were specifically aimed at punishing the Massachusetts colonists for...the Boston tea party.

This quote is saying that the intolerable acts were used to punish boston for the boston tea party

This proves that the British bad a right for restricting the colonists rights. They were punishing them for destroying
almost ONE MILLION dollars in tea. If someone were to purposely destroy your car, wouldnt you punish them?

According to Varsity Tutors, Todd Alan Kramer says that

Tarring and feathering loyalists..was a common practice carried out by the Sons of LIberty

This shows that the colonists started the violence

This proves that Britain is justified in taking away life. They were simply punishing the patriots for taking away life
and injuring, by taking away life and injuring, which you could call an eye for an eye
Conclusion Paragraph:

In conclusion, the answer to the question, were the American justified in waging war against Britain, is
no, the Americans were unjustified.

The Americans were unjustified in waging war against Britain because taxes & acts were all for the
greater good, the social contract was not broken, and propaganda was used to down Britains
reputation, as well as sway American perspective.
