Highest Quality and Reliability

Unique compacting system

Proven suction drum system

Thesolid suction drum remains thebasis for long-
term, consistent quality in compact spinning.
Thelow-wear surface ensures agood and especially
uniform yarn quality over long operating periods.

Thesuction drum system is theonly compacting Air guide element

Reliability and flexibility

By means of theoptimal and constant air flow with

thesuction insert Bright, thefibres are optimally
integrated in thefibre package. Theimproved air
flow prevents deposits of dust and fibre particles. Suction insert
This results in afully compacted yarn at all times.

Thenew suction insert Bright makes themachine Cover

more flexible. By means of theimproved air flow Suction slot
practically all yarns can be spun with this insert.

Quality Monitoring
Air guide element Detect secures and monitors thequality

Quality through specific air flow

Theair guide element Detect ensures precise air flow.

In combination with thesuction drum and thesuction

insert, this achieves theoptimal compacting result.
Thelateral inflow of theair captures all fibres and
binds them reliably into theyarn strand. Yarns with
highest strength and lowest hairiness are theresult.

Quality monitoring through air guide element Detect

Thenew air guide element Detect monitors theair
current to theindividual spinning positions. If thevac-
uum reaches athreshold value, thered pin of theair
guide element indicates that thecompacting unit must
be cleaned.

That provides additional reliability, as thus all spinning

positions are equipped with quality monitoring and
yarn which is not compacted is immediately detected.

Energy-Saving Compacting
Up to 63 % less energy for compacting

Theone-duct system reduces theenergy consumption

TheRieter compacting system has thelowest energy
consumption of all compact systems. Thecentral suction
duct reduces theenergy consumption needed to generate
thevacuum. By means of thelarge cross-section theair
resistance is reduced and consequently theenergy input.
Thecompacting zone is covered by theair guide
element. Theoptimally guided air flow reduces theair
volume required for compacting to aminimum. In com-
bination with thelarge suction duct this ensures thelow
energy consumption rate.

Energy-Saving Drive
Rieter 4-spindle tape drive uses minimal energy

TheRieter 4-spindle tape drive is energy saving thenecessary flexibility, as awide yarn count range can be
and easy to handle. With the90 enlacement on operated with low power consumption. With major changes in
thespindle, agood drive of thespindle can be thespeed, theoptimal speed range can be adjusted by means

bearings and thus secures thelowest possible
energy consumption.

Thelarge, water-cooled main motor offers

thebest efficiency and therefore thelowest en-
ergy consumption of all drive systems. Thelarge

Flexible Machine Concept

Drafting arrangement for all requirements

Quick reaction to market requirements

Thefrequency-controlled drafting unit motors of
theFLEXIdraft drafting system allow an easy setting of thedraft
on thedisplay. Quick material change reduces downtimes to
aminimum. FLEXIstart* supports theeconomic spinning
start-up of themachine. Depending on themachine length,
only aquarter or half of thedrafting system is operated and
consequently unnecessary material loss is prevented.

* Option

Intermediate drive ensures flexibility and quality

Long machines use an additional drive unit for themid-
dle bottom roller, positioned in themiddle of themachine.
Thetorsion forces on thebottom roller decrease and theuni-
form running of thebottom rollers guarantees consistent
quality along themachine. Themachine is suitable for mate-
rials that are difficult to draft and is therefore flexibly usable.
After doffing, thedrafting unit performs auniform start-up on
all spinning positions; delays caused by thetorsion and thus
start-up breakages are reliably prevented.

VARIOspin* theintegrated fancy yarn device

With theoptional VARIOspin* device, numerous fashionable Slub yarn

effects can be created. Basis for thefancy yarn device is Multi-count

theFLEXIdraft drafting system. Infeed and delivery bottom
rollers are driven by their own motor. With theVARIOspin Multi-twist

software, effect length, twist and effect intensity are directly

Easy Machine Setting

All functions are set centrally on thedisplay

Easy entering of thespinning data

All machine functions are centrally entered.
Thevarious menus of themachine control sim-
plify theentry process. Theoperator is guided
step by step through themenu. As all important
lot data such as yarn count, twist and speed
curve are centrally set, thetime required for
alot change is reduced.

Rapid machine setting

With MEMOset thedata for 18 various lots are
stored. Should ayarn count be repeated at alat-
er point in time, it is especially simple to set
themachine. Only thedata from theMEMOset
must be read into themachine control and
activated.

By means of theUSB interface, thedata is

quickly and easily transferred to other ma-
chines. If theoptimal spinning curve for ayarn
on one machine is determined, then other
machines can be easily adjusted. This facilitates
optimisation of thespinning mill.

15
Rieter . K 46 Compact Spinning Machine

Efficient Doffing
High productivity through fast and reliable doffing

Doffing without unterwinding

With theSERVOgrip, no yarn residues occur that need
to be removed from thewharve. As well as saving yarn,
it helps to keep themachine clean. Ends down caused
by flying yarn remnants are avoided. Rieter is theonly
manufacturer to offer an exactly controlled clamping
crown. Thecontrolled opening and closing of theclamp-
ing crown by thering rail fixes theyarn exactly and
ensures alow number of ends down after doffing. In ad-
dition, therisk that fibre fly enters thespinning process
and leads to yarn faults is prevented.

1 2 3 4 5 6

Working principle SERVOgrip Control by means of thering rail

Self-monitoring gripper
Thesystem monitors itself by means of thespecial profile of
thedoffer beam and thereleasable gripper. In theevent of fail-
ures, thedoffing process is stopped by thepressure monitor.
This ensures that all full cops are taken off and an empty tube
is put onto each spindle.

16
Rieter . K 46 Compact Spinning Machine

Reliable cops transport through SERVOdisc

TheSERVOdisc system works with peg trays that are
clipped into aconveyor belt. This achieves ahigh level
of precision in positioning. During doffing, thefull cops
and theempty tubes can thus be precisely taken over
and removed. High dependability and short doffing times
guarantee high machine efficiency over along period.

TheSERVOdisc system is an open system and is thus

practically self-cleaning in all circumstances. It is driven
by two diagonally offset 70 watt motors and consumes
only 10% of theenergy required by pneumatic solutions.

Flexible automation
With theSERVOdisc system, themachine can be directly linked with awinder or with thetube loader ROBOload. Accord-
ing to thecustomer's requirements, various automation solutions can thereby be realised. Theinterface for ROBOload and
link are identical. Thereby aROBOload machine can also be docked onto awinder at alater stage.

High Spinning Efficiency

Thelow-maintenance suction drum system reduces thedowntimes

Low-maintenance suction drum system

Thesolid metal suction drum need not be replaced after several
months, in contrast to theapron compacting system. Thelower
maintenance requirement results in high efficiency levels and
simplified planning.

up to 2 seconds, themachine can be accelerated to
theoperating speed again. With longer interruptions,
Spindle motor: Generator function Spindle motor: Motor function themachine is decelerated in acontrolled manner,
thereby avoiding additional ends down.

Higher service life due to liquid-cooled motors and converters

Thehigh-quality motors and control elements of amodern machine work best under constant temperatures. Thewa-
ter-cooled motors and converters of theRieter machines guarantee aconstantly low operating temperature. This
improves theoperating safety and theservice life of theelectrical components.

18
Rieter . K 46 Compact Spinning Machine

Cost-Optimised Spinning
High efficiency rates and low energy consumption reduce thecosts

More production through high speeds and high efficiency rates

Theunique spinning geometry of theK 46 facilitates
high spindle speeds. It is also thereason why thema-
chine can be more quickly ramped up to themain
spindle speed after doffing. Themachine runs longer at
themaximal speed and therefore produces more yarn
per spindle. In connection with therapid and depend-
able doffer, higher productivity of themachine of up to
10% can be realised.

Lower energy requirements

and spare part outlay reduce
thespinning costs
If thespinning costs are considered, these are very low
with theK 46. Thelow energy consumption per kilogram
of produced yarn is further reduced by thenew double-
sided suction system. In addition, with theK 46, thecost-
intensive replacement of aprons for thecompacting unit
becomes unnecessary. Afurther contribution to keep
spinning costs low.

High flexibility in finishing

Thefinishing of fabrics and knits places high demands on
theused yarns. Thepopular iron-free finishing of shirts and
blouses, for instance, reduces thestrength of theused yarns
by up to 50%. Thehigh strength of theCom4compact yarn
provides thenecessary reliability and flexibility for customer-
friendly and high-quality finishing of thefabrics.

Production and Quality Monitoring

High efficiency through specific deployment of human resources

Effective ends down detection

Theindividual spindle monitoring ISM with
the3-stage display concept guides themachine
operator directly to thespindles with ends down
by means of signal lamps. Unnecessary monitoring
checks are eliminated. Thespinner can work more
efficiently and thus operate more spindles. This is
achieved by different levels of thedisplay. Thefirst
stage are signal lamps on themachine head end
Without individual spindle monitoring long distances for theoperator
and machine foot end. They light up as soon as
thedefined limit for ends down is exceeded. Through
LEDs in each section, theoperator can recognise in
which section along themachine ends down must
be pieced. Every spindle additionally has an LED, so
that theoperator can directly identify theaffected
spindle.
