Foxcom will install the new fibre repeater in the airlines hangar at the end of May 2017. The
repeater, which debuted in October 2016, is the latest solution for aircraft hangars in the highly
successful range of iridium and GPS repeaters that Foxcom launched in 2013.
With the ability to provide Iridium/GPS satellite signals inside hangars, the airline can
undertake avionics testing indoors at any time, regardless of the weather, without having to
move aircraft in and out of the building. This greatly reduces aircraft-on-ground time, man-
hours and overall maintenance costs, therefore providing an immediate return on investment.
Iridium satellite equipment is used worldwide but has traditionally been limited to outdoor use,
as building structures block the satellite signals. Foxcoms Iridium and GPS repeater allows
communication inside buildings, using fibre optic for a long distance between Outdoor Units
(ODU) and Indoor Units (IDU), or coax for a low-cost repeater solution where ODU and IDU
that are just a few metres apart.
Beyond hangars, Iridium repeaters are used across a range of locations and industries. These
include underground civil defence and military bunkers, oil rigs and ships, and large buildings.
Established in 1993, Foxcom specialises in radio frequency over fibre equipment. It is a top
supplier to satellite operators, broadcasters and integrators worldwide, with products that offer
high performance, bandwidth and reliability. For more information, visit: www.foxcom.com
