When a World Leader Says Grab them by the-

Absolute power corrupts absolutely We live in a world where a quote most often said

about supervillains in comics and movies would be better applied to government officials and

corporate leaders. Worldwide, we deal with the issue of politics, and regulations on business

and how we treat our world. There are dozens of ideologies about how to move forward as a

species, but thus far, our leaders appear too busy using their power to enrich themselves to

move us forward. This problem is visible now more than ever, with the election of our current

president.

There has long been an issue of government officials and employees abusing their

power to subjugate others in the United States. There have been numerous widely publicised

cases in recent years, such as the water problems in Flint, Michigan, and the large numbers of

colored citizens, more specifically those who are black, that have been killed or severely injured

by police officers.

In Flint, Michigan, city government officials hid knowledge that the water supply was

overly polluted due to water pipes under the groundbreaking down, and the result was

numerous citizens of Flint being stuck with severe illness, and some fatalities that may have

been linked to the illnesses caused by their purposeful oversight.

Police brutality is another large issue in our country, one that still held headlines up until

the presidential election and its extreme reportability took precedence. In 2016 alone, almost

1100 people were killed by police officers in the united states, with almost a quarter of them

Black American citizens, and the majority of the rest Native American or Hispanic. There have

been a number of very publicised cases of these events, such as Trayvon Martin, ect (Come

back add more). These cases often ended with little to know punishment for the officers who
committed the killings, and in one case (find the one dude), an ex officer who was discharged

for killing a young man would shoot another during his private life.

What the prior paragraph is meant to do is not discount any form of power abuse but

rather to show that the problem is widespread and rampant in the US, and that Donald Trump

and his administration are not the first by far to abuse their power, but they are the subjects of

this discussion, and the most relevant to this current time.

All of us know at least one woman, and with any luck, all of us have at least one woman

in our lives that we respect. It would appear, from the media that we have been presented, the

way that American citizens have voted, and the way that Government Officials across the world

act, that a majority among us dont. Our President, the man who holds the position often also

called the leader of the free world, has been recorded on tape degrading women, as well as

those whom he deems to be less than himself, including immigrants, and citizens and people

who follow the Islamic religion. The systematic abuse of power by white men in charge and in

control of massive economic structures has never been more apparent, and it has never been

more ignored. In the midst of his presidential campaign, a tape was released of Donald Trump

describing how he used his power during a show he was running, and Trump can be quoted

saying I just start kissing them. Its like a magnet. I dont even wait. And when you're a star,

they let you do it. You can do anything in addition to I did try and fuck her. She was married

topped off by one of the most vile things I have ever heard a man say; Grab em by the pussy.

You can do anything. These comments were released not long before voting, right when they

should have been on every man and womans minds when they went into the voting booth. Yet,

when the votes were counted, a man who openly discussed committing sexual assault, received
53% of the white female vote, and 42% of all female voters voted for Trump. More than one

third of women voted for a man who can be quoted saying It doesn't really matter what (they)

write as long as you've got a young and beautiful piece of a**. about female reporters writing

articles critical of his sexism.

One of Trumps biggest points about how he would be a better president than his

opponent, Hillary Clinton, was that she had kept her email on an unsecured private server, and

there was a great deal of fear about it being leaked, which Trump used to discredit her as a

reliable person to run the country. The irony of it is that, less that three months into his

presidency, Trump and his staff are using unsecured personal devices to access things such as

email on the Republican National Committee system- The system (rnchq.org) is the same one

the George W. Bush administration was accused of using to evade transparency rules after

claiming to have lost 22 million emails. Making use of separate political email accounts at the

White House is not illegal. In fact, they serve a purpose by allowing staff to divide political

conversations (say, arranging for the president to support a congressional re-election campaign)

from actual White House work. Commingling politics and state business violates the Hatch

Act(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatch_Act_of_1939), which restricts many executive branch

employees from engaging in political activity on government time.

Additionally, Trump has often attacked his enemies for having discussions with countries

that were not the best allies, or making less than perfect deals with, for instance, China. Trump

has long argued that China is not our friend, and the trade deals that we offer them and accept

from them are far too lax, and we need to stop communication with our so called enemies.

Trump has discredited political opponents for having talks with ambassadors from other

countries, including our allies and opponents in the world circuit, but two and a half months into

his presidency, two of his cabinet members have already had the curtains opened on their

backroom talks with russian officials.

Donald Trump is our president, but is he someone that should be our president? Is he a

just leader, is he someone who can lead this country in a way that is best for the common

people, in a way that benefits not him, his businesses, his family, or his interests, but rather the

common people of the United States of America. As much as one must question Donald

Trumps power uses, and the way that he will lead this country, there is but another. How could

we, as the public, be so ill informed as to elect him president. We must seek to gain enough

knowledge to change our future choices, and to find a future in which corruption and power

abuses to not exist, or are far less often in occurrence. So I beg of you, my reader, go out, seek

knowledge, read, learn the stories of everyone you meet, study the past, and educate yourself,

because in reality, Donald Trump is an abuser of power of one of the highest orders, yet we

enabled him to do so.
