Research project for (ETR 522: Educational Statistics II)

Introduction and Reflection

The course ETR522 is designed to introduce students to advanced statistical methods commonly

used in educational research and social sciences. Taking this statistical course expanded my

knowledge about different statistical methods such as Analysis of variance (ANOVA), Chi-

squared test, Correlation, and Regression analysis. I have also learned how to read and understand

inferential and descriptive analyses in journal articles. More importantly. This course helped me

to select an appropriate statistical analysis for my research questions and interpret the result of

statistical analyses in accurate language.

Evidence of Mastery of Objectives 4 5 and 6:

Objective 4: Select appropriate analyses for a given research question: Based on the nature of
the project.
By the end of the course (ETR522), I was able to conduct a research project and select the

appropriate descriptive and inferential statistical analyses to answer the research questions and to

test the hypotheses. Thus, I believe this objective is met.

Objective 5: Design Apply appropriate technology to conduct analyses of educational data

In this course, I learned how to apply advanced techniques in SPSS to prepare and analyze data.

In my final research project for the ETR522 course, I used SPSS to screen the data and carry out

a different type of inferential analyses to answer the research questions and test hypotheses. In my

final research project, I carry out multiple linear regression to answer my research questions about

which factors predicts faculty members intention to teach online. Thus, I believe this objective is

met.
Objective 6: Conduct a study pertaining to an educational research problem or phenomenon.

As online education has become a trend in the last five years especially in the developing

countries, several issues that related to the use of this form of education has emerged. For this

reason, I was motivated to conduct a study that investigates the factors that predict the intention of

faculty members to teach online courses in the future. The results of this research will provide a

clear understanding of faculty members intention to teach online courses on the future.

Furthermore, the findings of this research will help institutions to prepare faculty members to meet

the growing demand for online education and delineate additional factors that might influence its

successful adoption. For all the above reasons, this objective is met.
