PED 105
General Lesson Plan for 4/5th Grade

Lesson plan must include the following:

1. Objectives/Learning outcomes (minimum of two)

-Students will be able to identify good/healthy choices for breakfast times while finding out what
they do for your body and physical health. Students will be able to have a better idea on what
they should be having food wise on a regular basis and how it will help them with their physical
fitness.
-Students will have a better understanding of what each healthy food does for their body and
what outcome it has in a physical fitness.

2. Materials or Equipment required:

-Paper
-Crafting material (markers, crayons, scissors, etc.)
-Tape
-Pre-printed calendar sheets
-Pre-printed breakfast food list

3. Procedures:

1) Make stations of Very Healthy, Healthy, Less Healthy, and Not Healthy.
2) Ask the students to write down a few things they normally eating for breakfast.
3) While they write, explain the importance of breakfast and how it impacts your health!
4) Then ask the students if they think they have healthy or unhealthy choices, and why they
think that.
5) Tell the students to go to where they think their food choices would in relation to the stations.
6) Go over where each student went and get an explanation of why they choose where they
went.
7) You should then explain what station they should really be at and why and put them into the
correct station.
8) Explain what each food for for the body at this point.
Bananas contain potassium, reduces muscle spasms and helps
function
Protein helps build muscle (peanut butter and eggs)
Water promotes digestion
Orange Juice has vitamin c, helping with bone strength and skin
9) You can them have fun with making a weekly calendar with good choices for breakfast each
day they can take home to share!
Hand out pre-printed calendar sheets
Pass out markers/crayons, etc
Show given example
Help them with any questions
Send home to parents

4. Class organization:

-They will be in their assigned seats in the beginning, they will then go in groups to each station
they choose, and then each station they should be at.
5. Evaluation:

-Hand out a sheet of paper with a list of breakfast foods showing where they would be on the
stations, what each food has nutrient wise, what each food does for your body/health and how
the good foods will help in fitness activities. They will then have a calendar with ideas for what to
have each day!
-Have a follow up lesson containing containing choices from good and bad choices and revisit
the stations to see if they now have a better understanding of which choices are good and which
are bad

7. Modifications:

-Instead of getting up and moving around to each different station, I would give them a sheet of
paper with all the options on it. I would ask them to circle where they would be in on color, the
teacher would then circle where they should be with a different color.

8. Additional information may be added to the lesson plan as deemed necessary.

-Take in known allergies when doing each student's calendar/choices to make sure they dont
eat something they shouldnt!
