Beta hemolysis = complete and full break down of RBC

Alpha hemolysis = partial breakdown of RBC, will see green tinted areas of covering

Gamma hemolysis = no breakdown of RBCappears to be unchanged

Bile Esculin Testused to identify gram + bacteria

Black = positive for bile


No color change/clear = negative for bile
E Faecalis black positive for bile

S agalactiae = clear/no color change negative for bile

Figure 7 S agalactiae- negative for bile
