To Whom it May Concern:

I am writing on behalf of Miss Shelby Railer, senior at Western High School. I have the pleasure
of teaching Shelby in two different subject areas: Sociology and Advanced Placement
Psychology. Throughout my time with Shelby, I have learned about her academic motivation to
succeed, even when faced with challenges.

I had the opportunity to watch Shelby mature and grow over the year, witnessing many traits,
one being her excellent dedication to education, even when faced with adversity. For example,
Shelby was given the assignment in our Sociology class to create a web page about information
learned on several areas in the course, including families. This culmination project came at a
time when Shelby was experiencing hardships in her home life. Faced with a challenge so
difficult for anyone, especially a teenager enrolled in courses that stretch her academics, Shelby
handled herself as a student with maturity and knew who to count on to help her through her
difficult days.

In addition to her dedication to education, Shelbys interaction with others is done with respect.
She always treats me with respect and I observe as she interacts with other staff members and the
same kindness is witnessed. Not only does Shelby interact with her teachers in a respectful
manner, but with her peers as well. This is evidenced on the softball field as she is a key player
on the team.

Shelbys academic dedication and interaction with others are two powerful traits that
demonstrate her character. I believe her senior portfolio showcases her academic and
extracurricular activities and verify her work ethic.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Kimberly Shore
