Unit 3 Expressing Interest and Boredom

Goal: Students will detect interest or lack of interest based on the words others
choose & be able to have a conversation about their interests as well as disinterests.

A. Interesting Question Recap


-What were the 3 interesting questions that we learned about last week?
-Have the students ask each other, What was the best part of your weekend?
-Call on a few students to answer.

B. Homework Review
-Call on the students to read what interested and disinterested them in the reading.
-Ask them questions to express (im)possibility.

C. Dissection and Dialogue (contd) (25 min)


-Pick up where we left off last week with people sharing the dialogues that they came up
with based on the outline:
I. Greeting
II. Invitation
III. Rejection #1
IV. Encouragement (with reason)
V. Rejection #2
VI. Acceptance and Consolation
-Have the students write an outline of Conversation A2 (C. to Speak p. 20).

C. Talking About Interests


-Review the Patterns (C. to Speak p. 21-22)
-On the ppt, put up pairs of hobbies and have the students ask each other (using the
Patterns) which of the two hobbies they prefer and why.

Round 2 - Yes or No with Reason


-Do you find ____ or ____ more interesting? Why?
