2. The arithmetic mean of 25 students in first quiz test is 4.8. Find the number of students

the factory. If the monthly salary of the new worker is Birr 5000. What is the mean salary
of all workers in the factory?

a) Organize the data in to discrete frequency distribution and compute mean,
median, mode, Q2, D6, P45, range, IQR, QD, CoQD, Deviation from mean, median
& mode, variance and standard deviation.
b) Organize the data in to continuous frequency distribution and compute class
boundary, class mark, R/F, R/f in %, cumulative frequency in %, mean, median,
mode, Q1, D8, P70, range, IQR, QD, CoQD, Deviation from mean, median &
mode, variance and standard deviation.
c) Compare the results of a) and b) then provide your comment.
6. In ABC firm there are 40 skilled workers earning an average wage of Birr 500 per month
and 60 unskilled workers earning an average wage of Birr 300 per month. What is the
average wage of a worker in this firm?
7. The following data have been arranged in ascending order: 12, 14, 17, 20, 22, x, 26, 28,
32, and 36.
If the median of the data is 23, find the value of x.
8. The mean of 5 numbers is 18, if one number is excluded, their mean is 16.
Find the excluded number.
9. The mean weight of 60 students of a class is 52.75 kg. If the mean weight of 25 students
of this class is 51 kg, find the mean weight of the remaining 35 students of the class.
10. The mean of the marks secured by 25students of section A of class X is 47 and that of 35
students of section B is 51 and that of 30 students of section C is 63.
Find the mean of the marks of the students of 3 sections of class X.
11. Suppose the mean wage of 100 workers is Birr 340. But the wages of two workers were
wrongly noted as Birr 325 and Birr 305 respectively. What is the correct mean wages of
workers?
12. The following data shows the results of 32 students with a mean score of 28 in certain
course. Find the number of students missed in the data.

17. Certain company trying to encourage women to fill the executive positions. For the last
batch of executive trainees, it wishes to fill 7 vacancies with 5 women and 2 men. The
company has 7 women and 8 men. In how many ways the vacancies will be filled, using
principles of combination?
18. Suppose Zangena textile factory produces different types of clothes. To produce this cloth

21. A group of young businesswomen wish to open a high fashion boutique in a vacant store,
but only if the average income of households in the area is more than $45,000. A random
sample of 9 households showed the following results.
48,000, 44,000, 46,000, 43,000, 47,000, 46,000, 44,000, 42,000, 45,000.
a) Can they open the boutique in the area or not? Test at 0.01 level of significance.

22. The following data shows the scores of examination on in certain course
Male: 72, 69, 98, 66, 85, 76, 79, 80, 77.
Female: 81, 67, 90, 78, 81, 80, 76.
a) Is there difference between the mean score of male and female? Test at 98%
confidence level.
b) Is the mean score of female is higher than male? Test at 0.01 level of significance.
