Reflected Essay

It has been a great pleasure to be with professor Moore on English 1301 and 1302.

Through these two semesters, I have gain lots of knowledge and an understating of English

writing. On fall 2015 semester, I was put in development integrated reading and writing. I

believe it was a waste of time because I barely learned some of MLA strategies. Entering to

college level English, my thoughts to the subject were negatively by the rumors that we were

going to write a lot. I always had problems explain a subject which I knew I will struggle the

whole semester. When we had the first assignment, Moore explained everyone what it has to be

done. I was not confused of the material and that is how it went throughout these two semesters.

Even though there were tough moments, I accomplish all assignments. Through the semester, I

had my weakness and strengths.

One of my strengths is that I master the MLA style, which I think everyone can do that.

At the beginning of the semester, I forgot how to do the MLA style. Once we started to write, I

got the hang of it. On the Rhetorical Analysis Essay, I made a lot of mistakes. For example,

putting a different font on the header. The font should always be Times New Roman through all

the paper. Another mistake I made on my Rhetorical essay was quoting a small paragraph into

the essay. It was my first time done it and I did not ask for help. Later I figure out how it needed

to be done but it was late to fix it. My last MLA mistake was the work cite. Like any other

student, we go to easybit to get the work cite but this time the words were highlighted. I thought

it will be okay to leave it like that but it brought me points down. Overall, I did get a passing

grade on my Rhetorical essay but with the few MLA style mistakes it made my skills stronger.

Everyone haves their weakness and mine is timing. First thing professor Moore gave us

was the course outline. Is a calendar where it shows what is expected to be done in a certain

amount of time. It might seem that there is time to do them and turn it in on time. But is not, to

make an essay it takes a month to organize, correct and review. I like how professor Moore

organized the outline yet I did not follow it. I always consume time in other tasks that are not

school related. This have cause me problem which brings my grade low. For example, on the

Rhetorical Analysis and Causal Argument essays, there is a difference of the timing and grade.

By turning the Rhetorical essay late, it caused the grade to be poorly. In the other hand, I took

time with my causal argument essay which impacted positively. There are still strategies that I

will like to do to turn my weakness into a strength.

English is an important subject to know. We used it every day of our life which is by

writing an important email or by reading an educational ad. Professor Moore have done a great

job by teaching us great strategies to be a better writer. Moore educated and transform me to be a

much better writer that I used to be.
