Brief

The good folks at adult swim are trying to find the most talented and
creative people to fill up air time that will most likely not be seen
by anyone. Were looking for people to create an experimental comedy
short for adult swim to play during the peak time of 9 to 9:30. The
creation must be roughly 20 minutes in length. The video must feature
new ideas and original forms of comedy. The video is your time to
shine because the most unique and creative videos will be shown.
So to run down heres a quick recap:
It needs to be 20 minutes
It needs to be funny
It needs to be original
It needs to be creative
This is our chance to help you make it into the god-awful world of
showbusiness, so dont disappoint us or brute force will be met.
Final deadline is Friday the 9th of June.

Also please remember this will be on television so any content that is deemed
too offensive will be thrown out in the trash. This involves topics such as
racism or sexism.

Identifying Target Audience
To identify my target audience, I decided to grab 3 of the most heaviest influences for this idea that I could find on
YouTube and research the statistics on the 3 videos.
So the first video and possibly my biggest influence for the short film is adult swim's "Tim and Eric Awesome Show,
Great Job". This clip in particular is one of their most popular sketches on the show.
According to the adult swim Wikipedia page, their content is primarily aimed at young people mostly between the ages of
18 and 30.
After checking the comment section of this video, I can see that people that thoroughly enjoyed the video seemed to be
in the student demographic.
Another influence would be the abstract art style of Death Grips. Their music videos tend to find seemingly basic things
and make them unique, such as the example I've provided above which features the front man of the band performing into
the reversing camera of a car.
This was a lot harder to research because the huge appeal of the band is that they seemingly try to appeal to nobody.
However, judging from live performances, album sales and the comment section of the video, it seems that the main
percentage of their fans are young people aged 18 up.
My final influence is that of genius Neil Breen, the man responsible for such greats as Fateful Findings and the second
coming of Christ.
He himself has described his films as "dark" and "edgy" and clearly makes them too smart for your average Joe to
understand. Judging from interviews it is abundantly clear that he just makes the films for the sake of making them. He
doesn't care who sees them, just as long as they enjoyed watching it as much as he enjoyed making it.
However, his films are cult classics for film goers who are looking to laugh at someone's failed attempt at a dream. You
can tell from interviews and fan meetings that his audience seem to be mostly young, aged 20 to late 30's.

From all of this information I can conclude that my target audience would be the student demographic. Young people aged
18 to late 30's both male and female. I would take a guess to say that their social group would be from B downwards,
seeing as high class people wouldn't appreciate the humour of someone desperately trying and failing to act as much as a
working class citizen.

Audience Research

Seeing as the film will be shown on Television for a

short time, it will also be available for streaming
on the Adult Swim YouTube channel. This is where it
will get most of its audience from.

According to recent research, more younger people

are tuning into online streaming rather than TV or
Newspapers. Because Adult Swim is only exclusive to
America, I'm only expecting a few thousand to view
it there. According to Variety magazine, in 2015
Cartoon Network (the channel that host Adult Swim)
had a total viewing audience of 367,000. Based off
of this information, I expect if the film was also
available for streaming on sites such as YouTube,
then views will go up drastically. Due to
international viewers, I am expecting views to be in
their millions.
After doing some research I found that the market
features a lot of "safe" comedy. With channels such
as Comedy Central which tends to play it safe with
shows like Family Guy and countless stand up shows.
I think that my film will feature a more
experimental form of comedy. A large amount of the
gags come from visuals, editing and camera work.
Ethical and Legal Issues
I will be using a lot of copyrighted music in my production, so I will have to buy the rights to songs
used in my production. I will be shooting on location but the locations used are public sites, so
permission won't be needed.

In terms of ethical issues, I don't think there are any issues at hand other than the name. The name
is just something I thought sounded appropriate for this production and I don't mean any offence that
is taken. This is not a serious movie that deals with serious issues, this is a fun thriller where
Hitler gets shot in the face.
I'm also going to be using Hitler as the main antagonist, the reason for this is because it's such an
obscene concept that you just find it funny due to how unexpected it is.
The final scene shows explicit but slapstick violence which would be inappropriate for children under
the age of 16.

For the legal issues, I will have to get permission during the editing stage, because I wont know
what song would fit in a scene if I havent seen it yet.

I will have to get into contact with the studios that produce the songs since they own the rights to
the song.
