and gestures which the children love very much.Besides it

helps to draw into learning and encourage them to take part in it.For

poem, the reason I choose shape poem is because it is very unique

and creative poem because it uses images and visuals that come in

variety of shapes, colors and structure to describe and portray the main

subject of the poem.

into the learning. How did you use them,is there any particular approach

or strategy ?

Puan Rohaizan: Yes of course strategies are important to teach song and poetry

especially to elementary school children. For song , I usually let the

pupils to listen to the song first so they get familiar with it.Then I sing

the song 1 phrase at a time, asking the children to sing after me each

time. Finally I allow class to sing alone with no support. For poetry, I will

first read the poem aloud with correct intonation and asked them to

repeat after me.After that I let them identify words that they do not know

or unfamiliar with.Lastly we will do some activities such as drawing and

role play to enhance their understanding of the poem.

Me : Wow, your strategies are brilliant.Do you adapt any material or teaching

aid along the process?

Puan Rohaizan : Yes I do.I use a lot of material and teaching aid to help me with the

teaching process for example I use a lot of power point slides ,video,

picture cards, puppets and many more materials that I made

myself.Basically anything that can help to improve the pupils

understanding of the poem and song.

REFLECTION

NOR AINI BINTI NORDIN

The time spent during my SBE 3 in Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Suria 2 was a
memorable one. The teachers and staff there were very nice and helpful. We were also
given places to sit in the meeting room which are very convenient and nice for us to do
our work and finish the task.

For the first day, there are nothing much that we did, we went around the school
to greet the school community and arrange meetings with English teachers.Later in the
afternoon we were requested to attend a meeting regarding the PIBG that will took
place on Wednesday,we were also elected to be one of the committee members of the
meeting. The next day, we were given opportunities to replace a class, where we finally
able to meet the student and get to know them closer. We conduct a lot of activity with
them such as games, drawing and many more.Later on we had the opportunity to
observe an LGA class. It was a whole new experience for me because how the teacher
manage the class and adapt song and poetry in the teaching process. The lesson was
very good and the pupils seem to enjoy it very much.We also held an interview with the
teacher and the pupils to know their perception of using song and poetry in the
classroom.

Overall, it was an exciting and beneficial experience for me because I had learn a
lot of things on how to carry out a Language Art class.
