Planning

Rationale: Describe how this lesson is developmentally appropriate:

What skills and content are needed to master the lesson objective(s)?
The students already understand the rules, teamwork, and the
specific skills associated with each activity.
How is this objective relevant to students, their lives, and/or the real world?
The students must learn how to work cooperatively with others,
and the activities they will be involved in are recreational sports
they can participate in the rest of their lives for enjoyment or
competitively.
What types of instructional strategies will you use to deliver the content?
Hands on learning, cooperative learning, and peer teaching will be
used to deliver the content. These are all student-centered
strategies for a student-centered lesson.
How does your lesson reflect educational theories/theorists?
This lesson reflects constructivism which means the students learn
by doing. They use schema to connect new knowledge to existing
schema to understand the material. The students keep building
new knowledge on top of existing knowledge.
Pre-Assessment
How will you measure students readiness/level of understanding prior to
teaching this lesson? (e.g., KWL chart, SMARTboard responder quiz, whole-class
Q&A with response cards, individual student pre-test, etc.).
I will use whole-class Q&A to ensure the students are aware of the
rules, skills, and etiquette of the activities.

Assessment
How will the students demonstrate that they have attained the goals of the
lesson?
Explain how the assessment aligns to the objective.
Include a copy of the lesson assessment.
Provide exemplar student responses/products (model outcome).
I will be implementing a student-assessment where the students
will be assessing each other in fair play and knowledge of the
rules.
Each team will be given an assessment sheet/rubric and they will
assess each team they play in the multiple activities.
The assessment/rubric is based on a 1-4 scale with 4 being the
best.

Post-Assessment
How will you evaluate the students work/performance? ( e.g., rubric, weighted
responses, checklist)
Report results in qualitative and/or quantitative format.
I will quantify the results once the students turn them in at
the end of class.
I will use the rubric the students filled out to grade the
students for the day.
The daily grading system is setup on a five-point system:
All students start with 5 points
Students lose points if they are not prepared, dont
participate, respect others and equipment, cause
disturbances, etc.

Key Vocabulary: Technology needed:

Badminton learning needs through technology?

Shuttles & balls

Accommodations:
What accommodations/modifications will you include for students with special
needs? (use contextual information ) How will you make accommodations for the
identified students during each phase of the lesson?
Input
Guided Practice
Independent Practice
Assessment
I will group the students with peers that will help them in the activities.
I will provide separate courts/tables for them to play on in a
noncompetitive environment.
Lesson Opening:
Lesson Plan Implementation

How will you

activate student interest?
I will open the lesson by bringing the class together and
explaining the activities for the day. I will explain how it will
go and have them pick their partners.
present the learning objective(s) in an engaging and student-friendly way?
I will present the learning objectives when I bring the class
together at the beginning.
make connections to past learning?
I will remind the students of the activities we have been
doing the last couple class periods. They are the same
activities we have done during those class periods. I will also
remind them of the rules and fair play.
convey the importance of the learning objective and make it relevant to
your students lives?
The students must be able to work with others in the
community when they get older. By displaying the proper
etiquette for the activities, they will be working
cooperatively and working on teamwork. They will be able to
display the needed skills for the game and play it for
enjoyment or competitively the rest of their lives. A couple
of the activities are Olympic sports as well.
explain to students the sequence of instruction? (preview the activities for
the period)
After our warm-up, Ill bring the students together and
explain the path of the class for the day. We will then setup
the equipment and engage in activity. I will bring them back
in at the close of the activity.
communicate what knowledge or skills students will be expected to
produce by the close of the lesson?
The students will be able to:
Demonstrate proficiency and/or refined activity-
specific movement skills in badminton, ping-pong, and
pickleball.
Exhibit proper etiquette, respect for others, and
teamwork while engaging in physical activity.
Apply the knowledge of the rules to multiple activities.

Instructional Input
I Do

How will you model/explain/demonstrate all knowledge and skills required of

the objective?
Restate the objective
Introduce new material (describe what types of instructional supports
Guided Practice

You Do We Do
How will students practice, with your support, all content and skills required to
continue to internalize the objective? (How will students be engaged?)
The students will be engaged in the multiple activities,
and they will be assessing the other teams they
Independent Practice
How will you clearly state and model academic and behavioral expectations?
I will remind the students of fair play and the rules of the
activities. It will be a review since we went over these
Lesson Closing prior.
How will you
Review the skills/content taught in an interactive manner (whole/small
group, individually)
Reemphasize and clarify the objective
Reassess students mastery of, or progress toward the objective? (if not
already assessed)
We will review the lesson as a whole. I will bring them in and
have them turn in their assessment sheets. We will also
discuss the activities. Once the discussion is over, they will
pick up the equipment and change for the next class.

After you have administered your assessments (formal or informal) for this lesson,
Reflect Analyze

analyze the results.

How did the students perform on this assessment? To what degree did they
achieve mastery toward the lesson objective(s)?
How will you provide opportunities for remediation and extension?
Reflect on your effectiveness as a teacher based on the analysis of students
performance.
List two things you feel you did well to plan, implement, or assess
instruction.
Describe the changes you would make if you were to teach this lesson
