Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) was isolated fro yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) by heating the active

dry yeast with dilution NaOH solution. this method of RNA extraction involved the disruption of
the cell membrane and subcellular nucleus to break open and discharge the nuclei acids. To
determine the purity of the isolated RNE, its absorbance was measure at 260/280 ration and
260/230 rationn mn that yield 1.144 and 0.9353 which confirmed the impurity of the isolated
RNA and the presence of phenol and aromatic compounds in the isolated RNA. The isolated RNA
was aslo hydrolyzed and characterized by Murexide test or the test for purines and Wheeler-
Johnson Test or test for pyrimide. There is no positive result in the isolated RNA, which maybe
caused poor isolation of RNA from yeast.
