JOURNEY Welcome back to Term 2! Hopefully you were able to enjoy some good whnau time together
over the Easter break and school holidays. While the students have been away teachers have
been preparing plans for the new term and we have an exciting ten weeks of learning ahead.

Arts Week and the Great Shave Off. Thank you

It was fantastic to surpass our $1000 target

the way. Well done to Ollie Nelson and Malachy

Across the school students and teachers are exploring the important topic of Keeping Ourselves
Safe (KOS) during the first three weeks of this term. Constable Maire Proud joined us on Monday
8 MAY
night to answer questions and outline the programme for parents at the information evening.

Remember to talk to your child about what they are learning as we work our way through this
subject.

ASSEMBLY 01 Following yesterdays amazing short free performance from the Zirka Circus acrobats, we are
HOSTING really looking forward to Puss in Boots: Pet Detective by the NZ Playhouse actors.
12 MAY NZ After KOS, student learning will move onto a Science focus including topics such as Magnetism and
PLAYHOUSE the Respiratory System alongside classroom literacy and numeracy programmes.

PET DETECTIVE Please join us if you can on May 15 for the Tackling Technology Parent Evening (see inside) . This

EVENING 7PM From the Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees had their March / April Meeting on April 6. Key topics discussed were:
Ministry of Education approval of the schools new Five Year Property Plan. Architectural
expressions of interest are now being sought for this $530,000 refurbishment project.
Update discussions were had on the schools new Connecting Education and Community
(CEC) project and participation in the Timaru Schools Community of Learning (COL).

Zirka Circus
Yesterday we were lucky enough to have an amazing free
performance from three of the Zirka Circus acrobats. Aged
11, 12, and 13 the three young Chinese acrobats performed
incredible feats of dexterity, balance and strength.
Coming home with this weeks Newsletter is a flier for the
Sports News
Cross Country: The school Cross Country is coming up in Week 4 on Friday the
26th. The students are starting to do some training and practise as part of classroom programmes.
Rippa Rugby: With the Aoraki tournament just around the corner both teams are training hard. Thanks to Mr Pullar and the
coaches who have been instrumental in getting them ready.
Basketball: The Year 7/8 teams are coming to the end of their season. The teams are currently working hard to get a place
in the quarter finals.
Jump Jam: Planning is underway for Jump Jam. Coaches are working on teams and routines, and lots of hard work and
practice will happen between now and the Week 9 competition. Watch this space for developments on this exciting event.

Music lessons at school: An opportunity for music lessons at school - teacher comes to PPPS for individual music lessons - piano, guitar, ukulele lessons with an opportunity for
exams, theory of music, concerts and competitions during the year. Some other instruments can be considered. Own instrument for practicing at home is required. Enquiries to
