Kuala Lumpurs most famous buildings, The Petronas Twin Towers, were the tallest buildings in the
world from 1998 to 2004. Cesar Pelli was the architect who designed these towers. He wanted to
reflect the home to the dominant Islamic culture of Malaysia.

He was born in the small town of Tucumn, in Argentina. When he was a kid, he used to do a lot of
drawings and constructions of different types, forts and towers and bridges. He migrated to the
United States in 1952 and became a naturalized US citizen in 1964.

Pelli established his company in 1977 after he designed the extension of the Museum of Modern Art
in New York. One of his most important designs, The Petronas Towers, began its construction in 1993.
When they were completed in 1996, they became, at 452 meters, the tallest buildings in the world.
In 2004, Pelli received the Aga Khan Award for Architecture for his design.
