Importance of Sports in Daily Life

Participation in sports is very important in both children and adults, and should be

encouraged, so to help development. Playing sports offers many benefits, including health and

fitness, as well as the development of social and communication skills. Incorporating activity in

ones daily life is important so to promote an overall healthier lifestyle.

The role of sports can never be ignored as it the matter of importance. People can be

involved in the sports activities for their personal as well as professional growth. It is good for

both boys and girls to build fine physique. Good health and peaceful mind are two most

important benefits of the sports.

Sports play a great role in everyones daily life especially for students. Everyone should

involve themselves in the sports activity even for a small time all through the day. Sports are

necessary because it brings physical and mental fitness to the person involved in this on regular

basis. People who have busy schedule in their life get tired very easily. As we all know that,

living a relaxed and comfort life we need a sound mind and a sound body. Education is very

necessary to get name, fame and money. In the same way, getting a sound mind and body,

everyone must involve in some types of physical activities for which sports is the best way.

Being involved in sports activities benefits a person in many ways. It does not provide only

physical strength however it increases mental power too. Outdoor sports such as football,

cricket, volleyball, hockey, running, etc. helps in improving physical health and fitness.

Sports and games are very beneficial to us as they teach us punctuality, patient,

discipline, teamwork and dedication. Playing sports help us in building and improving
confidence level. However, some indoor games and sports like brain games, chess, Sudoku, etc

improves mental power and concentration level. Regular physical activity helps keep your key

mental skills sharp as you age. This includes critical thinking, learning, and using good

judgment. Research has shown that doing a mix of aerobic and muscle-strengthening activities is

especially helpful. Participating in this kind of activity three to five times a week for at least 30

minutes can provide these mental health benefits.

It also helps to reduce the stress and depression. When you are physically active, your

mind is distracted from daily stressors. This can help you avoid getting bogged down by negative

thoughts. Exercise reduces the levels of stress hormones in your body. At the same time, it

stimulates production of endorphins. These are natural mood lifters that can keep stress and

depression at bay. Endorphins may even leave you feeling more relaxed and optimistic after a

hard workout. Experts agree that more research is needed to determine the relationship between

sports and depression.

Playing outdoor sports is important to stay healthy, not just physically but mentally too. It

is scientifically proven that playing sports can reduce your stress levels and keep individual in a

happy state of mind. For the vast majority of people that participate in sports, sports help them

grow as individuals and prepare for life (Morgan Wootton, 1995). It says that Sports are a

useful way to remain physically active outside of school, but they have many other benefits as

well.

Physical activity is essential to the health and development. People who plays sports

develop personally, social and communication skills can be learned and developed through sport.

Teamwork, for example, is naturally learned through participating in team sports and games.
Sports makes the body active and make a good relationship with people. Communication skills

can be learned. Many people will also develop leadership skills through sport, often discovering

abilities that they never knew they even had. Sports enhance overall development.

Communication skills are important for all people. Everyone uses their own language to

communicate with one another, because no one survive without communication. Sports teaches

us how to communicate with each other. In sports, no one can survive without communication

and it is important to communicate in sports during playing. Good communication skills are

necessary in todays daily life. If, someone does not have good communication skills he or she

has a negative impact on the personal as well as professional life. Playing sports also helps

people to develop the ability to work together effectively using techniques that apply in every

situation. For example, a player communicates in Basketball by saying the pass ball to me.

Finding a way to communicate efficiently in any situation helps a person succeed in their

profession, too. People who play sports learn how to present their winning ideas to others. Also,

leaders improve their leadership ability by listening to others, and speaking. We also need

communication skills to maintain our relationships with friends and relatives. Good

communication skills lead to avoiding confusion, fights, and miss-communication etc.

Effective communication is crucial for a team to be successful. The team needs to

communicate regularly with one another because through communication cooperation and

collaboration occur. Collaboration with one another is necessary in the workplace because it

helps to solve problems, help maintain standards of practice and create a good rapport with all

involved. Ebbeck and Waniganayake (2003, p.195) state "shared decision making is one secret of

successful management". For this to be achieved communication is essential and necessary in the

workplace.
Playing sports provides people with opportunities to develop skills. Leadership is one of

the best skills which is learned by sports. Participation in sports helps people to develop

confidence and make quick decision to succeed in leadership roles. In todays world, it has

become mandatory to individual to have leadership skill in the profession. Playing sports

presents many opportunities to show the leadership quality. For example, when a soccer player

gets a chance to score a goal, he makes the goal. Likewise, in another case, a leader needs to

consult his subordinates to plan. Playing team sports often involves developing a strategy to

defend the opponent and attack its weakness.

If we practice sports on regular basis, we can be more active and healthy. Being involved

in the sports activities helps us in getting protected with numerous diseases such as arthritis,

obesity, heart problems, diabetes, etc. It teaches you to go ahead in life by removing all the

weaknesses. It makes us bold and gives the feeling of happiness by reducing the occurrence of

anxiety and angry. It makes us physically fit and mentally comfort using which we can easily

deal with all the problems.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends that children and

adolescents (ages 6-17) get at least one hour of physical activity a day, with most of the activity

focused around aerobics. More intense activity such as muscle and bone strengthening should be

implemented about 3 times a week. These days, Society is increasingly aware of the importance

of being physically active, especially considering childhood obesity statistics but still some are

not aware. They should play A popular sport such as basketball, for instance, has many benefits.

Playing basketball can build muscle, increase endurance, improve hand-eye coordination and

develop discipline and concentration. In addition to its health benefits, basketball has the
advantage of being a practical sport. It can be played all year around, both indoors and outdoors.

Players can join a team, play one on one, or simply practice shooting hoops in their leisure time.

As we know the health benefits of physical activity. Physical activity is important for

overweight people so they can be fit. In the US, many people are overweight because they never

do any physical activity and never participated in sports. People who play daily are burning

calories, which is good for health. People with overweight likely to die young and suffer with

diseases. Strategies that effectively changed physical activity behavior have been based on

self-efficacy theory (Bandura, 1986, 1997). It says that if person is overweight and he wants to

lose his weight he can do with his own ability. If they will participate in some sports they can eat

whatever they want to if they are doing physical activity. For the people who are overweight

they should play Tennis its a popular dynamic sport. Research shows that tennis players tend to

have improved cardiovascular health, bone health, less body fat, and improved aerobic fitness.

Since it involves predicting when and where a ball will land, tennis helps develop sharp hand-eye

coordination skills as well.

Sports improve health and fitness as exercising is also good for the musculoskeletal

system, sports improve the strength of the body, and makes body muscles strong. People who do

sports will be stronger and more able to lift and carry heavy things, which is good for the body.

Furthermore, doing sports can improve mental health as well as physical health, with exercise

being helpful for people with depression and a range of other mental health issues.

It is seen that people dont participate in sports these days. They should participate more

as they will be fit in their daily life. Many people can improve their daily life with sports.

Participation in sports is good for all of us because it helps to keep mind and bodies fit in daily

life.
