The three learning theories chosen to compare and contrast were behaviorism,
cognitivism, and constructivism. Each of these theories are interconnected by their explanation
of how individuals learn. Constructivism and cognition are alike because they encourage active
and personal learning to create a deep knowledge of the information. Behaviorism, like
constructivism, focuses on the natural learning path students take. Although behaviorism takes
this path, it is facilitated by the teacher much like cognitivism is to guide the students learning.

I chose three of the principles of effective technologies and utilization to compare and
contrast. The three chosen were incorporating realistic contexts, engaging students in relevant
practice, and offering frequent, timely, and constructive feedback. These principles overlap
and have the common goal of providing the student with the needed knowledge to continue in
the real world. Incorporating realistic contexts and engaging students in relevant practice
greatly express this goal by the importance placed on the knowledge and skills needed outside of
school. Offering frequent, timely, and constructive feedback backs up those two by reviewing
the right and wrong information to further solidify the information learned.

I chose the three types of assessment including traditional, portfolio, and authentic.
These assessments are used to evaluate where students are in their learning. Traditional
assessment is the one most used in schools today with use of multiple choice questions such as in
the SAT. This type of assessment is straight forward and simple. Authentic and portfolio
assessments are popular with college evaluations. These allow for the knowledge to be tested in
regards for the real world and the use of self-reflection to deepen knowledge.
