Home Learning
Home Learning is explained and given out
each Thursday and is due back the
following Tuesday. Home Learning is stuck
into their English and Maths Home Learning
books and put into their trays. It is vital that
Home Learning is completed each week
and returned promptly. Home Learning
supports and consolidates what is being
taught in class.
If your child has struggled with Home
Learning tasks set, please do not hesitate
to let the Class Teacher know. Also, we
have a Home work club on a Thursday
where the children can be supported to
complete their Home Learning.
Year 1 Curriculum
Our topic this term is She Sells Sea Shells
on the Sea Shore.
Science: Forces and Magnets
Computing: We are Painters
Topic: Seaside throughout history
Art/ D&T: Building summer buggies
Reminders
Please make sure your child has a water
bottle in school.
Also, due to some children having nut
allergies, please make sure there are no
nuts in your childs lunchbox.
Reading
Please ensure that your child brings both
into school every day. We will record when
we have heard them read and we ask
parents to do the same. We strongly
encourage you to hear your child read on
a daily basis, this makes such a difference
to their speed of progress in reading. Also,
by your child reading at home every day it
will also ensure they receive their sticker
towards their Reading Raccoon
certificate. Lots of children have now
received their silver award; the
competition is on for the first child in Year 1
to receive the Gold or Platinum award!
PE
In Year 1 the children will have their PE
lesson on a Friday afternoon. Please ensure
your child has their PE kit and that each
item of clothing is clearly labelled.
Help from Parents/Carers
At Iver Village Infant School we really
appreciate any free time you may have to
help in school, whether it is hearing
children read or using your arty skills to help
with displays. We would really appreciate
your help. Please let your Class Teacher
know.
