Specific Goal: My audience will learn about how to align both their mental and bodily health and be
prepared for anything in life.
Application: The audience may be able to change their lives just as I was successful mentally and
physically through the application of bioenergetics.
Ethos: Primary Ethos: I have a hard time managing stress levels and I am studying ways to
decrease those levels of stress by changing how I perceive them.
Secondary Ethos: I will cite three references out loud in my speech.
Pathos: A story about how I overcame depression and tough challenges during my Freshman year
in high school when I took all honors classes while still playing football, basketball, and baseball.
Logos: I will use step-by-step directions for people who have experienced roadblocks like me and
help them overcome these through the practice of bioenergetics.
Audience Assessment: My audience likely knows what bioenergetics could do for a person, but
are most likely not aware of the magnitude of people that it can cure roadblocks such as
depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and an overall low well-being.
Adaptation to Audience: I will define the bodily functions and how to trace an emotion back to its
source through awareness and self-diagnosis.
Pattern of Organization: Chronological in Introduction. Topical in Body.
Introduction
I. Hook: I grew up in need of proper guidance, but unfortunately could not find an answer for
everything that I was trying to accomplish.
A. I experienced many difficult times, like having sever panic attacks and going
through depression that lasted several months.
B. Because I learned what symptoms to watch out for, I chose to express instead of
depress myself which decreased my symptoms substantially within the first couple weeks of
practicing awareness and bioenergetic exercises.
II. Thesis: Knowing the types of neurotic holding patterns and how to detect them may help you
free your mind from the social pressure and personal expectations that plague us all.
III. Preview: Ill share what I learned from practicing these freeing rituals.
A. First, Ill explain how to detect these neurotic holding patterns in the body.
B. Second, Ill define the many different kinds that effect all of us.
C. Third, Ill describe how to make these symptoms go away.
Transition: Now that Ive given you a preview, lets look at what neurotic holding patterns are.
Body
Neurotic holding patterns: Muscular tension from mental energy being trapped inside of the body.

Transition: Now Ill take you step-by-step through an example of having neurotic holding patterns
below.

I. There are many types of neurotic holding patterns. However, the roots of these can be
traced back if we can backtrack to where it all started. Heres an example of how the
unfortunate man deals with anxiety around women:
