rocedure (needs completed)

a. First I will have an introduction for the class about the song.(Where I heard it first and what it means
to me.)

b. Then I will have the students sing after me the rhythm of the melody and then sing the melody with
pitches after I do.

c. Next I will have the students play the concert B flat major scale

d . Then I will have the students play the song as a whole.

I will be conducting the ensemble and try and show the dynamics along with the tempo
fluctuations.

e. After their first read through I will work on balance, pass offs of the melody along with articulations
of the notes, and playing together as an ensemble.

f. We will work on parts of the song to fix any issues that we have run into. This will be the part section
of my teaching.

g. I will Then at the completion of my lesson go back and go over the whole melody making sure
everything I have gone over is remembered in the lesson.

losure/ Review

a. As the students play the whole song by themselves I will be listening as I direct to hear if they are
making dynamic contrast, while listening for intonation problems and seeing if I can see. Along with this
I will constantly be listening to the pass off between the sections with the melody and to make sure they
are embracing the dynamics properly.
b. I f I cant hear or see any I will know that they have learned the song and scale in an adequate way.

c. I f not I will know that I have to go back and fix problems.

I will make sure they understand how the song fits into our society culturally.
