Coordinate Geometry Songs 1

Title : Lets Coordinate

To plot the coordinates (two, one):

go right two, jump up one, and youre done.
To plot (negative eight, positive two):
go left eight, up two. Thats what we do.

On the x-axis [count left or right].

On the y-axis [count up or down].
Thats how a coordinates point is found.

To plot the coordinates (nine, five):

go right nine, up five, to where you arrive.
For (negative three, negative nine):
go left three, down nine, where they intertwine.
To plot (positive six, negative four):
hop right six, down four. Lets do one more!
With the ordered pair (zero, negative three):
remain at the origin; go down three with me.

The coordinates are kind of like clues

telling you where to plot the x and y values;
and when you see them on a questionnaire,
they can be called coordinates or an ordered pair.
There are four quadrants; the first is in the top right corner. The second, third, and fourth go in
counter clockwise order. Finally, theres the place you begin
at (zero, zero) called the origin.

Title : The Treasure Hunt Rap

Yo on the real, my life is crazy like in movies,

I've been searching for years for gold, jewels and rubies.
I finally have a treasure map, and it's old,
I'm in the Dungeon of Axes, and it's cold.
And it's booby-trapped so I need to know,
Where to find the traps and where to find the gold.
Lucky for me, my map? It glows,
It's a coordinate plane, let's see what it holds:

The x-axis is a number line,

It goes across the map, it's really wide.
And the y-axis isn't wide, it's tall,
It goes up and down my map, that's all.
Where they cross? That's the origin,
Where I entered the dungeon, and where I begin.
That's where x = 0, and y does too,
If I didn't understand that, I wouldn't have a clue.

Feeling richer than a boss,

My x-axis goes across,
My y-axis, it climbs.
So when I graph, I graph (x,y),
And get paid on a plane, now let's ride...

Yeah, so my graph is empty... but wait!

Below is a list of things that I need to locate:
There is a pit at (2,5),
What does that mean? If I don't know I might die.
Then I see it says (x,y),
So the x-coordinate is first, and then y,
So (2,5)? I count 2 to the right,
Then I count 5 up on the y, alright.
Right there, is a point, that would be a pit,
I put P on the map, yeah that's it.
There's a swinging blade at (3,1),
So I count 3 on the x-axis, son.
I count one up on the y,
I put a B for blade on the spot, no lie.
(2,5) and (3,1) are both ordered pairs,
A pair of numbers that will show me where.

The treasure itself is at (3,6),

I plot that point on the map real quick.
And then I count out my steps,
Until I see so much gold that it takes away my breath.

Title : Rene Descartes

Rene Descartes didn't have a big heart.

But he decided to give mathematics a start.
For the first four years, he started to write.
'Until he finally saw the light.

He began to study the points in a plane.

He discovered that the coordinates could obtain
Many different points to create a curve.
But what type of purpose would this serve?

He started to write once more,

And soon his words began to soar.
Through the countries, over the seas;
And now his discoveries help people like you and me!

Unifying geometry and algebra is what he's famous for.

But everyone always wants to learn more.
So with the Cartesian coordinate system as partial foundation;
Mathematics spreads throughout the nation!
