UNIT/CHAPTER OBJECTIVE/GENERALIZATION/BIG IDEA:


This lesson plan is part of a unit plan analyzing the importance of practicing skills needed to resist
persuasive tactics regarding sexual activity.

LESSON OBJECTIVE:

1. Given three resources in Day 1 of a WebQuest TLW, research using the internet and reference
information from each source with a score of three out of four on the rubric.
2. Given a list of the available questions, TLW support their answers to each question by recording a
one-minute oral assessment that demonstrates a clear understanding of human trafficking and a
creative solution to the problem presented.
3. Given a computer or iPad with word processing software, TLW communicate their knowledge by
typing the shared link to their video in a word document and uploading it to their student dropbox
to be presented before the class with a score of three out of four on the rubric.

Tennessee Health Education Standards: 6.7 Sexuality and Family Life: Identify and practice skills needed
to resist persuasive tactics regarding sexual activity.

Technology Integration
Students will use Day 1 of the WebQuest as a resource for researching human trafficking. Screencast-o-
matic will be used to record their researched answers that demonstrate their knowledge of human
trafficking. Word processing software will be used to paste a shared link to the student's video in a text
document. Students, upon completing the activity, will add the Word document to a shared Dropbox

BACKGROUND and RATIONALE:


Students will demonstrate a clear understanding of human trafficking by researching on the internet,
recording in visual representations on their knowledge of the issue, and communicating solutions for
how to resist sexual persuasive tactics regarding sexual activity.
Academic Language is not addressed in IDT 3600.
We will refer to the research found here as we continue to explore human trafficking. We will also use
our video for future oral presentations.
The teacher will use AAC for language, and speech impaired students.

PROCEDURES AND TIMELINE:


Introduction (15mins):

1. TTW: Provide some brief background information about what human trafficking is, pointing out that
the upcoming video In Our Backyard explores sensitive topics that relate to this current issue.

2. TTW: Display the video "In Our Backyard" https://www.endslaverytn.org/the-problem-1/ for students
to watch on a large screen display.

Procedures:

Prior to the computer (5 mins)

1. After the Introduction, TTW, display a link to the WebQuest on the overhead, whiteboard, or projector
and instruct students to write it down.

2. TTW: Instruct the students that they will be completing Day 1 of the WebQuest by researching on the
internet through the 3 links provided, using these sources to answer the questions on the WebQuest
through a video recording on Screencast-o-matic, creating a Word document with a shared link, and
uploading this document to their student dropbox. Ask them if they have any questions about the
assignment.

At the computer (30 mins)

Teacher Procedures
1. Have students open the MS Word and an Internet Browser with two tabs.
2. Direct students to the WebQuest site.
3. Direct students to the Screencast-o-matic website on the iPad or computer.
4. Download the student videos to a separate desktop folder as they are uploaded.
5.. Monitor and assist as needed.

Student Procedures
1. Open MS Word and an Internet Browser with two tabs.
2. Go to Webquest website and begin navigating through the WebQuest.
3. Select and research within each one of the 3 provided links to find the answers to the questions in the
WebQuest.
4. Go to Screencast-o-matic.com and record a front-facing video of yourself answering 4 or more of these
questions, based on research found in each of the 3 provided sources.
5. Share the link to your Screencast-o-matic video.
6. Go to MS Word and Paste the link to your Screencast-o-matic video.
7. Save the document and Upload it to your student dropbox in the Time Journal folder

Closure: (10 minutes)

TTW: At the end of class, students volunteer to share their video time journals. The teacher checks for
assignment submissions in the dropbox, and polls the class for questions.

ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE:
Students learned through video testimonials, from anti-trafficking organizations, research, peer videos,
and communicative skills how to resist persuasive tactics regarding sexual activity. Concluded by oral
assessment of students through video recordings from peers.

Formative Assessment: The teacher observed and accessed the students as they were researching and
filming their videos. The teacher accessed students as they were orally presenting in in their videos. The
teacher used a quiz to access students current knowledge of human trafficking.

MODIFICATIONS:
I am aware that modifications will be made for students who did not master the objectives and for those
ready for enrichment. However, modifications are not covered in this course and are not part of this
particular lesson.
