Instructional Workshop Lesson Plan

Learning Objectives:
1. Teachers will demonstrate their knowledge of Canvas by designing modules
for their own Canvas course.
2. Teachers will create assignments and embed them into content modules.
3. Teacher will import assignments, quizzes, and modules into their own
Canvas course.
ISTE Teacher Standards:
1d: 2a, 3a, 3b, 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d, 5a, 5b, 5c, and 5d
Materials Needed: School-issued laptop and internet access
Location: Room 1080 (Science wing)
Time: 6th lunch
Procedure:
To begin the instructional workshop, I will ask teachers to login to their Canvas
account, and access the online instructional workshop. They will then open up the
Canvas course that I created for them in order to begin the first part of the
workshop. Teachers will use their devices and following along the web-based
resource as I lead instruction. For the first part of the workshop, Teachers will work
on developing modules that will later import into their own Canvas course. The
second part of the workshop, teachers will create assessments and embed them into
their new modules. For the third part of the workshop, the teachers will import the
newly created module into their own course for them to use during their
instruction. Teachers are encouraged to ask questions throughout the workshop
and work with other teachers to complete all three tasks.
As teachers finish the workshop, they will be encouraged to complete a survey and
provide feedback on the effectiveness of the workshop and what could be better for
the next workshop.
Evaluation/Reflection: Upon completion of the instructional website, all
participants will be encouraged to complete the survey via Google Docs and
provide feedback on the instructional workshop. Feedback from the teachers and
staff will be taken and used to enhance the instructional workshop for other
participants.
