ePortfolioshavebeenintroducedintomanyhighereducationdegreesinthepastdecadeinaneffortto

examineePortfoliousefromtheperspectiveofundergraduatenursingandpostgraduatemidwifery
students.FiftysevenstudentsfromaregionalAustralianuniversitycompletedanonline
questionnairewhichcontainedquestionsaboutthefollowingareasofePortfoliouse:understandingof
thetool;psychologicalperceptions;challengesarounduse;assessment;outcomesofuse;benefits;
maintenanceoftheePortfolio;andenhancedlearning.Themajorityofrespondentswerefemale,
undergraduatestudents,aged2130years.ResultsindicatedthatmanystudentsfoundePortfoliouse
frustrating;inparticular,technologicalandlogisticalchallengesinusingePortfolioswerehighlighted.
Moststudents,however,notedePortfolioscouldbeusefulrepositoriesfordocuments,reflectionsand
learningexperiences.Undergraduatestudentsweremorelikelythanpostgraduatestudentstoseethe
positivepotentialofePortfoliouse.Thefindings,coupledwiththeliterature,raisequestionsaboutthe
effectivenessofePortfoliouseinnursingandmidwiferyeducationand,particularly,whether
ePortfolioshavebeenimplementedwithmisguidedandmisinformedgoodintention.Furtherresearch
isrequiredtobetterunderstandthelogisticalandtechnologicalaspectsofsuccessfulimplementation

Associalmediaiswidelyadoptedincollaborativelearning,whichplacesteamsinavirtual
environment,itiscriticalforteamstoidentifyandleveragetheknowledgeoftheirmembers.Yet
littleisknownabouthowsocialmediainfluencesteamstocoordinatetheirknowledgeand
collaborateeffectively.Inthisresearch,weexploretherolesoftwokindsofsocialmediaactivity
informationprocessingandsocialconnectioninteamworkbyapplyingcommunicationand
transactivememorysystems(TMSs)asthemechanismsofexplicitandimplicitcoordination
respectively.Wetestthismodelusingpartialleastsquares(PLS)methodbytreatingteamastheunit
ofanalysis.Drawingonthedatafromastudythatinvolves40teamsofgraduatestudentsperforming
acomplexresearchreportovereightweeks,wefindthatbothTMSsandcommunicationcan
significantlyimproveteamworkoutcomes,andcommunicationcanhelpteamstobettercoordinate
implicitly.Withregardtosocialmediaactivities,theresultsrevealthatbothinformationprocessing
andsocialconnectioncanenhancethelevelofTMSs;however,onlysocialconnectionispositively
relatedtocommunication.Unfortunately,informationprocessingcannotsignificantlystrengthen
