Striking Games Class at Springfield College

Time Lesson Organization Reflection

Introduction- Welcome back

I hope everyone had a good
10 minutes break. This week is going to
be a little bit different than
normal. You are going to
get to decide the rules of
the games instead of doing
something that has already
been established. This is
going to be a lot of fun as
long as you make it fun. If
you sit there and complain
about it your week is not
going to be fun.

You will each get a bag of

random equipment and with
that equipment you are
going to have to make a
game out of it. I did this at
my school and it was a lot
of fun. I will show a version
of the game that we made
and the equipment that we
got in our bag to give them
an idea of what they can
come up with.

You must write all the rules

of your game on a big piece
of paper that will be
provided. You will not get to
explain your game to
anyone the first time we
play it. So do not take any
rule for granted write down
everything.

Activity 1-
Students will be put into 4
to 5 groups depending on
20 minutes the size of the class and be
given a bag of equipment.
Each group will get a
different set of equipment
so that they cannot copy
what other groups are
doing. Students are able to
try out their ideas before
they write everything down.
They will need to come up
with a name of the game
and then the rules. Also a
diagram of the game must
be drawn so that it can be
set up the same for the next
class.

Activity 2- Once they have

all the rules written down
then they are going to play
their game as a team. So
15 minutes they will split into teams in
their group or however they
decide and they will play
their game.

Teachers are going to be

walking around to make
sure they are safe and on
task.

Safety: Make sure you are

not going into other groups
space when you are playing
your game. If you are
throwing things try to throw
toward a corner or the wall
so you dont throw into
another group's space.

Activity 3-
The groups are now going
to rotate around and play
30 minuts other groups games. They
will start by reading the
rules that the other groups
had written down and then
will play the game. Some
groups might have to spend
more time reading the rules
and figuring out how to play.
This is why we are going to
go around a second time
and have the group explain
their game and then have
the class play it and they
can be the teachers for it.

Activity 4- After all the

games have been played
each group will have a
chance to explain their
40 min to game this time and we will
hour play it on a larger scale. We
will either set up two
different games of it and
split the gym in half or we
will have two different
groups games going on and
the gym split in half.
If another game is needed
we can take one from a
different class.

Conclusion-
Students will decide which
group had the best game
and I will show what the
10 minutes classes before them
thought was a good game.
We may have time to play
the top games from each
class which will be good for
them to see what the other
classes came up with.
