I often travel to your city on business, but I don't usually have a lot of
time. Where can I go and what can I see in one day?
In Boston, you can visit Faneuil Hall, walk around the Public Garden,
and then walk the Freedom Trail.
I want to visit this summer, but I don't have a lot of money. What can
I do for free?
You can visit Boston Common - a park in the center of Boston.
There are a lot of interesting and historic buildings like the Old North
Church, The Boston Public Library, and the African Meeting House.
The Boston Arts Festival also has free events.
Where can I meet local people? What traditional things can I see or
do?
You can meet a lot of local people at a baseball game. The local
team is the Red Sox. You can also meet people at concerts or at the
theater. You can walk along the Charles River. A lot of people walk
and exercise there.
Traditional events in Boston are a swimming event in Boston Harbor
in January, a parade in March, and a free concert on July 4th.

Hi Ian,
Joe: I watch sports on TV all the time. I'm watching the Olympics this
month. It's great, but I don't do any sports. What sports are fun?
Try a lot of different kinds of sports. I like volleyball, tennis, and swimming. Also,
start slowly don't do a lot of sports right away.
Anita: This fall, we're playing soccer at school. I'm not enjoying it very
much, especially when it's cold! Also, I'm not very good. Help!
Soccer is a great sport, so try and enjoy it! Before the match, go running and
get warm. Remember - you're learning a new sport and it takes time. Watch
soccer on TV. Watch some professional matches and learn from the players
David: I like exercise, but I'm lazy! I usually exercise for two or three
weeks, but then I need a break. Do you have any advice?
Maybe you're doing the wrong kind of exercise. You're not enjoying it so you
stop. Do something fun. Try taking a fun exercise class at the gym. Thirty
minutes of exercise five times a week is good. Remember, don't do too much!
Take some time to relax, too.
I like to shop online because it's easy to compare prices, and it's very
convenient. Clothes are sometimes cheap because you don't have to pay sales
tax. Also, I don't like to go to busy stores. I like to shop at night.
I don't like to shop online because I always buy things I don't need. I buy too
much. Sometimes, I buy two or three sweaters in different colors. Shopping
online is expensive because I have bad habits. Also I don't like to get emails
every day from shopping websites.

I went out on Monday night. I went to a friend's house and had

I ate out at a Spanish restaurant last Wednesday. We had paella.
Thursday
I took a vocabulary test last Thursday. I didn't do very well.
Friday

are always good.
Saturday
I went to a museum on Saturday afternoon. I saw an exhibit of
Chinese art.
Sunday
I bought a magazine last Sunday morning. I read it all afternoon.
I met my friend when I was 13. His name was Marti. We met on my
first day at a new school. He said, "You look nervous. Come and sit
with me." I said, "Thanks. I am nervous. Is Mrs. Roberts strict?" He
said, "No, she's nice. And her class is fun!" I said, "Oh, good." Then I
was more relaxed. After school, I played basketball with Marti. I was
happy I had a new friend.
