The Holocaust

Identify your topic area and why you chose to research the topic

The definition of the Holocaust is the destruction or slaughter on a


mass scale, especially caused by fire or nuclear war.
In 1933, the Jewish population of Europe was 9 million and most of
the European Jews lived in countries that the Nazi Germany occupy
during Word War II.
More than 6 million European Jews, as well as members of other
persecuted groups, were murdered at concentration camps.
I chose to research the Holocaust is because I know a little
information about the Holocaust and would like to understand more
about it.

An event from the Holocaust is the aftermath of the Holocaust.


o In 1945, when Anglo-American and Soviet troops entered the
concentration camps, they discovered piles of corpses, bones,
and human ashestestimony to Nazi mass murder. Soldiers also
found thousands of Jewish and non-Jewish survivors suffering
from starvation and disease.
o After the liberation, many Jewish survivors were afraid to return
to their original homes because of all the things they have
suffered during the concentration camp.

Outline at least 4 minor inquiry questions that you think are


important to ask about your topic area and answer these four
questions.

When was the first concentration camp established


o The first concentration camp was Dachau, opened on March 22,
1933.

What was Hitler's ultimate goal in launching World War II?


o Hitler's ultimate goal in launching World War II was the
establishment of an Aryan empire from Germany to the Urals.
He considered this area the natural territory of the German
people, an area to which they were entitled by right, the
Lebensraum (living space) that Germany needed so badly for its
farmers to have enough soil.
How long did the Holocaust last?
o It went from 30th January 1933 when Adolf Hitler became the
chancellor of Germany to 8th of May, 1945 when the war in
Europe officially ended.

What happened in Concentration Camps?


o The Nazis would ship Jews to concentration camps by trains,
vans, and so on. They were forced to labor for the Nazis at the
work camps and were treated harshly. At the Red Cross camps,
the Red Cross would be aloud to go to those camps and
medically attend to the Jews. At the death camps, the Jews
would be gassed or killed in some other way. Eventually,
though, most Jews would have to go to the death camps. The
Jews were killed in various ways such as, worked to death, killed
in gas camps, or killed by other cruelties.

Assess the impact of the holocaust on those involved during WWII.
