Midterm Reflection

Part1: In the beginning of class I did not fully understand SLOs. As the

class went on and we started doing different activities and I started to

better understand them and how the apply to the real world. For

rhetorical knowledge the activity that helped me understand was the

Starbucks article we had to read and criticize. Critical Reading was one

that I understood coming into the class but the research for my inquiry

project really helped my critical reading. I had to make the decision

whether or not the source was credible and if the information was

useful to my topic. For composing process the goal sticker project

helped me understand this SLO. I had to think about what my goal was

for the semester and reflect why I chose what I did for my sticker and

how it will make me reach that goal. The inquiry project helped me

understand knowledge of conventions because I had to follow the

conversation and realize there more than just one side. Lastly, the

submission reflections are my critical reflection. This allows me to

criticize myself and see what I could have done better or what I liked

about my work.
Part2: In this class I have approached specific activities head on. I like

the dive in and get it done and not procrastinate. With major projects

this is very beneficial and with homework. When it comes to peer

editing I enjoy helping out my peers and giving my honest opinion

about their work in order to better their work. This class has really

pushed me to become a better writer because I feel like I am able to

express what I feel. In the past Ive been marked off for not having the

same opinions as my Professors but I really feel like I can give my

honest opinion and not have to hold back. Others may not realize that

Ive struggled with writing before so they may not see that when I write

it takes a lot to push myself but I know that Im here for a degree and

need to do everything I can to make sure I achieve that dream.

Regarding my grade in this class, I push myself to work as hard as I can

and believe that my work deserves an A. However, I have always been

very shy and get uncomfortable when talking in front of a group of

people so my class participation deserves a B. In order to get myself

where I need to be at the end of the semester I need to keep staying

focused and organized so I can make sure my grade does not fall in

this class and my writing can improve. Success in this class to me is

not only getting an A, but also becoming a better writer and learning

skills that can help me in the real world.
