Introduction

Chapter 1
Introduction

1.1 Overview

SuporUp computer data processing software is professional software for industrial

ultrasonic data processing system by Shantou Institute of Ultrasonic Instruments Co., Ltd.

(SIUI), which needs to be installed on a computer before use. SuporUp software provides

a convenient approach for post-processing of industrial ultrasonic data.

1.2 Scope

Mainly used for acquisition, display, measurement, processing and report generation of

industrial ultrasound data.

1.3 Purpose

This manual is a detailed description of the "SuporUp Computer Data Processing

Software". For brief description, "SuporUp" is used as a short form.

1.4 Background

The initial release version of SuporUp is V1.00.0, and the subsequent updates are based

on this version, with incremented version number.

1.5 Operating Environment

The SuporUp software can run on Windows XP/ 7 operating system.

2.1 Install and Uninstall

2.1.1 System Installation

Double click the installation file icon (see Fig. 2-1) to start installing SuporUp software.

Follow the prompts to finish installation.

Tip: The default installation directory is "Administrator \ SIUI \ SuporUp" in the

directory of the installation package. For example, the installation package

is placed in the root directory of D drive, therefore the default installation

directory is "D: \ Administrator \ SIUI \ SuporUp." For some versions of Win7,

such as Home Basic version, due to the safety setting of Win7 operating

system, the software functions may not be used properly after software

installation to the system drive. In such case, please reassign the software

installation directory to a non-system drive directory.

2.1.2 Uninstall the Software

Click Start menu -> Program menu and select SIUI\SuporUp, and then click Uninstall to

uninstall the software.

Or select Add/Remove Program from the Control Panel to uninstall the software

2.1.3 Start the software

Find the software shortcut icon on desktop as shown in Fig. 2-2. Double click the shortcut

icon to start the software, or click Start menu -> Program menu, select SIUI\SuporUp,

and then click SuporUp to start the software.

2.1.4 Exit the software

Click X at the top right of the screen to exit the software. If the current file is changed, the

system will automatically prompt whether to save the file. See Fig. 2-3.

After confirming to save or not, the system prompts whether to close the window. Click

Yes to exit.

2.2 Software Screen

The software screen is shown in Fig. 2-5, and the meaning of each area is shown in Table

2-1.

2.3 Introduction of Menus and Shortcuts

2.3.1 Menu

Depending on the file opened, the operable menus are displayed in the menu bar, as

shown in Fig. 2-6 and Fig. 2-7.

2.3.1.1 File Menu

The File menu is for opening and closing files, and also for viewing or clearing history files

and exiting the software, as shown in Fig. 2-8.

2.3.1.2 Measure Menu

The measure menu is for file data measurement and calculation. The measure menus are

different subject to file types. See Fig. 2-9, Fig. 2-10 and Fig. 2-11.

2.3.1.3 Report menu

Use the SuporUp software for file processing, measurement and calculation, and the

results can automatically generate reports based on customer needs. The report template

can be the system default template, or a custom template. See Fig. 2-12 for the specific

operation of report generation, see Chapter 7 Report.

2.3.1.4 Remark

The Remark menu includes 2 remark types: Mark and Ring.

1) Mark menu allows text mark on images. Use the mouse to hold and drag the box and
adjust its size and location. Double-click the box to input text directly. Use the mouse to
select the box, press Delete or BackSpace on the keyboard to delete it.

2) Ring menu can be used with the text to circle the image section needs to be highlighted.
Use the mouse to hold and drag the box and adjust its size and location. Use the mouse
to select the box, press Delete or BackSpace on the keyboard to delete it.

2.3.1.5 Layout menu

Tip: For PA files only.

The layout menu is for setting view layout. Check the desired view option, or uncheck to
cancel the view display. See Fig. 2-14.

View R is a simulated workpiece view accordingly to the PA file workpiece information.

Subject to user inspection and analysis needs, select the item to be displayed. If there are
two or more groups of PA files, select the group to check View R or Total View R.

2.3.1.6 Capture menu

The user may capture images, and the Capture can be displayed in the report or printed.
See Fig. 2-15.

1) Window Capture

Window Capture is a capture of the selected window, including menu bar. Click
Capture -> Window Capture or the hotkey Capture, the system automatically
captures and saves it, and pops up the window of save path.

2) Rectangle Capture

Rectangle Capture is a capture of the selected rectangle. Click Capture -> Rectangle
Capture, and place the mouse at the start of the capture. Long press it and drag the
mouse to select the rectangular range. Release the mouse to finish capture.

3) TOFD Capture

TipFor TOFD files only.

TOFD Capture is a capture of the full TOFD image, not including the menu bar. Click
Capture -> TOFD Capture, and the system automatically captures and saves it, and
pops up the window of save path.

4) CaptureDirectory

Use CaptureDirectory to open the saved capture folder and review capture files.

2.3.1.7 Setup menu

The users may set up Line and Color to be displayed in the software according to their
preferences, making it easier to view and analyze. Depending on the file type, the options
of the setup menu may vary. See the detailed description of setup menu below.

1) ColorAndLine

For setting Color, Line, FontSize, font background color, font background opacity, and
color range for the software screen. Set Fig. 2-16 for the PA file setup screen.

a) Line and FontSize can be selected from the drop-down menu, with a number of steps
available.

b) Color setup: click on the color box, the system will automatically pop up the color
selection window, and the user may choose according to their color preferences, or
customize other colors. See Fig. 2-17.

c) The color range of color rank can be customized. Use the mouse to click on Color
Rank in the menu bar, and the system will automatically pop up the color rank setup
screen. See Fig. 2-18.

Begin Point, Last Point: The users may customize the color of begin point, last point

or any point in between. Confirm the selected color, and the color rank at the screen

top will automatically display the color gradient range according to user selection.

Delete Point: Click the mouse in any of the range of the color rank to change the

color. Now the selected color is the inserted gradient color to the color rank, without

changing the colors of the start and finish positions of the color rank. Multiple color

points can be inserted at the same time to the color rank. Click and drag the right

arrow of the color point, and you may change the position of color point, and click

Delete Point to delete the inserted color point.

New Empty: To create a new color rank, click New Empty with the mouse.

Save: Click Save to save the current color rank, and the saved color rank will be
displayed in the column of Color Rank, and displayed in the drop-down menu of Color
Rank in ColorAndLine setup screen for selection.

Delete: To delete the color rank, move the mouse cursor to check in the box in front of
the color rank, then click Delete button.

Import: select and import a color rank file to SuporUp for use.

Apply:Apply the color settings to the image, and set the window unclosed.

Default: Reset the setup to the system default color setup.

Exit: exit the setup window.

Closing the window may exit the setup. The system will save the last edited color rank

temporarily for change upon the next access.

2) Unit

Subject to user habit, set up the measure length unit for the software, with mm and inch
available.

3) Language

Currently the software supports languages of Chinese, English, Russian and Hungarian
for user setup.

2.3.1.8 Help Menu

The menu includes Rectangle Capture Help and Operation Manual, as shown in Fig.
2-21. Click Rectangle Capture Help to bring up simple operation steps window for
rectangle capture. Click Operation Manual to review the electronic operation manual (the
user computer needs to be installed with the software for opening PDF file).

2.3.1.9 About

The About menu displays information about software version and modules.

2.3.2 Description of Hotkeys

For easy user operation, some of the frequently used menu options can be found in the
shortcut menu bar. Just simply click on the shortcut to perform the operation. See Table
2-3.

3.1 Open and Close Files

3.1.1 Open A File

Start SuporUp. There are 3 ways to open a file.

1) Select File -> Open from the menu.

2) Press the hotkey Open,

3) Select "+ File from the FileParameter window on the right.

Find the directory storing SUPOR or SyncScan instrument files from the pop-up window,

and then double click the phased array (PA) file with the suffix *.prec to open it. See Fig.

3-1.

Tip: The user can open multiple PA files in the software at the same time.

When the file is opened, the user may set up the view of image window display in Layout

menu. Each group of images can be set up to display: 3 A-scan views, 1 B-scan view, 1 [B]

scan view,1 C-scan view, 1 D-scan and 1 R-scan view at maximum. See the description

for the different views below.

and the vertical axis for amplitude.

2 B Workpiece side view. Multiple A-scan lines displayed at the actual echo

positions after volume correction, with the horizontal axis for the

distance between the probe reference point and the workpiece

reference point (or probe width), and the vertical axis for depth.

3 C Workpiece top view. Acquired from data processing in the width

(horizontal) direction by multiple B images, with the horizontal axis for

probe moving distance or time, and the vertical axis for beam width or

coverage width (horizontal).

4 D Workpiece end view. Acquired from data processing in the depth

(vertical) direction by multiple B images, with the horizontal axis for

probe moving distance or time, and the vertical axis for depth coverage.

5 R Ray tracing diagram.

6 [B] A 2D image generated in time or distance axis by the same A-scan

echo, with the amplitude displayed in color codes, the horizontal axis for

distance or time, and the vertical axis for depth.

Click and drag the border of each view to change the display position of that view.

Click the submenu in Layout, for example PA Group 1, to open or close all views in PA

Group 1. Or go to its second-level menu, click to select the desired view.

Click To instrument Layout, and the view method of the image window is restored to the

system view method when the record file was saved.

3.1.2 Close A File

There are 3 ways to close a file.

1) Select File -> Close, and select the desired file name to close the file.

2) Click the hotkey Close to close the file directly.

3) Select - All or Checked from the file parameter window to close it.

Note:Select "- All" to close all files; Select Checked to close the checked file

only, after using the mouse to click the file to be closed.

3.2 Toolbar Features

The menu bar above the image is general menu settings for all files. See Chapter 2 for

details. The toolbar features for different file types may vary. See the figure below for the

toolbar of PA files.

Note:Click Toolbar to hide the toolbar menu.

3.2.1 Play

(1) Click the play button to play back images automatically.

(2) Click the stop button or to to pause or stop playing.

(3) Adjust the playback speed by using the fast-forward button or rewind button

, and the playback speed will be updated simultaneously. Or when in stop state

place the mouse at the play slider , hold the left button and slide, and images are

played at the slide speed. Release the button to stop playback. See Fig. 3-3.

3.2.2 DigitalGain

The image gain range is -20.0dB20.0dB, with the step 0.5dB. Use the menu DigitalGain

to make adjustment. See Fig. 3-4.

3.2.3 DataSource

When View C is generated from 0 lines, select Depth or Amplitude to display View C.

3.2.4.1 Zoom

Note:Two types of image zoom available. The "Zoom Reset" button is for local

zoom only.

1) Full screen zoom: to enlarge the image to the entire image display window. Double

click the title bar of the image view to enlarge the image window to the maximum

screen, while other images are automatically hidden. Double click the title bar again

to restore the original size.

2) Local zoom: Click the left mouse button on the position to be enlarged on the image.

Long press and drag to the desired magnified area and then release the mouse. The

selected area is zoomed out automatically to the view window. To zoom out to the

original image size, click "Zoom Reset".

3.2.4.2 Color Scale Setup

When the cursor stays on View B, [B], C or D, the "Color Scale Setup" button will appear.

The user can set up or change the image color scale. See 2.3.1.7 1) "ColorAndLine for

the edit of color scale.

Double left click the color scale in the image window and quick access to color scale

setup.

3.2.5 Zoom Type

According to the zoom type setup, the image is adjusted automatically to the display.

Image B/[B]/C/D supports the zoom types below. If the scan mode is time-based, the

image [B]/C/D does not support FitHorDir and dFitVerDir.

Note:Clicking the right mouse button on the view to display the menu.

FitHorDir: The image is zoomed in horizontal direction.

FitVerDir: The image is zoomed in vertical direction.

FitSize: The image is zoomed in any type (without proportional restriction).

System: Consistent with image generation.

3.2.6 Display

The menu items for different views are not the same. The user may check the menu items

to be displayed as required.

Note: Click the right mouse button on the view to display the menu.

The C/D scan select box is for selecting the display area in CScan and DScan views for

the selected B image. After readjusting the scan select box, the CScan and DScan views

will be automatically updated.

Move the mouse cursor to the edge of the select box, and the mouse arrow becomes a

double-arrow cursor. Press and hold on the right mouse button and move it to change the

size of the select box, as shown in Fig. 3-8 and Fig. 3-9.

Move the mouse cursor to the center of the select box, and the mouse cursor becomes a

four-way cursor. Press and hold on the right mouse button, and move it to change the

position of the select box as shown in Fig. 3-10.

3.2.7 Sync

In the Sync menu, select MeasureLine, and the measure lines in other images will be

synchronized when adjusting the measure lines in View B, [B], C or D.

3.3 Image Measurement

3.3.1 Measure line adjustment

1) Adjust the horizontal or vertical measure line individually: Left click the horizontal or

vertical measure line to activate the measure line (displayed in a dotted line). Move the

mouse to the measure position and then click the left mouse button again, The horizontal

or vertical measure line adjustment is finished.

2) Adjust the horizontal or vertical measure line simultaneously: Click the intersection of

the horizontal and vertical measure lines to activate the measure lines (displayed in a

dotted line). Move the mouse to the measure position and then click the left mouse button

again. The horizontal and vertical measure lines adjustment is finished.

3.3.2 A-Scan image measurement

3.3.2.1 Measurement menu

After selecting the A-scan image window, click Toolbar -> Display to select the measure

item; or right-click the A-scan image window and select the measure item from the pop-up

window.

3.3.2.2 Measurements

Up to three measurement gates can be displayed at the same time in the A-Scan image

window.

(1) Gate width adjustment. Place the cursor on any gate. Left click when the cursor

changes to a double arrow, and the gate is being selected (dotted line). Move the

mouse to adjust the gate size, and left click to confirm.

(2) Gate position adjustment. Place the cursor in the middle of the gate. Left click when

the cursor changes to a four-way cross cursor, and the gate is being selected (dotted

line).Move the mouse to adjust the gate size, and left click to confirm.

After the gate adjustment is finished, select Measure -> AWave Echo for the gate, and

you may perform measurement for the gate; or click the gate measurement icon Gate in

the hotkey menu bar to finish measurement quickly. Now the number (1, 2, ......) displayed

at the gate refers to the number of measurement. The measurement result is displayed on

the right of the AScan image, with the font color corresponding to the gate line color. See

Fig. 3-11.

3.3.3 B/[B]/C/D Image Measurement

The measurement steps of a B/[B]/C/D image is as follows:

1) There are two cross measurement cursors on each of the three window (see Fig.

3-12). Left click the mouse to move the cursor to a proper location, and then click to

confirm.

2) Click Measure in the menu bar, and select PA Rectangle, and you may perform

rectangle measurement on the image. Or click the hotkey Measure Rectangle to

finish rectangle measurement.

3) The measurement results are displayed in the "MeasureView." If the mouse is within

the measuring range box, the current measurement result will be displayed

automatically.

3.3.4 MeasureView

The measurement results of the image are displayed below the MeasureView, Click

MeasureView to display the window and hide it. The left to the top of the window displays

a thumbnail image of the measured image, and the right displays the specific measured

data. According to the image type (AScan, BScan, [B] Scan CScan, DScan), the data

display area is divided into different tabs, displaying measurement results of the images.

See Fig. 3-13.

3.3.4.1 Operation

1) Click DeleteAll, and all the measurement results (including AScan, BScan, [B]

Scan,CScan, DScan images) will be cleared.

2) Click DeleteChecked, and only the measurement results with the number before it

being checked are cleared.

3) Click TxtExport to export the measurement results to a Txt file.

4) Check the box before LeftMeasImage or PopupMeasImage . When MeasureResult

is selected, the left image area or the area above the measure window displays the

thumbnail of the measured image automatically. If not checked, the thumbnail of the

image area is not displayed but hidden.

5) Click the right mouse button in the "MeasureResult window, and set up the items to

be displayed in the "MeasureResult window. Check before the items to display with

the left mouse button, or uncheck to cancel the display.

3.4 Introduction of Corrosion Images

3.4.1 Open the File

Start SuporUp. There are 2 ways to open a corrosion file.

1) Select File ->LoadCorrosionCScan from the menu.

3) Select "+ Corrosion from the FileParameter window on the right.

Find the directory storing SUPOR or SyncScan instrument corrosion files from the pop-up

window, and then double click to open the corrosion scan file. The file opened is as shown

in Fig. 3-14.

Tip:The corrosion scan results can be opened properly if they are placed in the

same folder.

The users may choose landscape or portrait view as per the operating practice. Click the

hotkey Portrait or Landscape above the image.

3.4.2 Toolbar Features

For the detailed menu features above the image, see Chapter 2. See Fig. 3-15 for the

corrosion file toolbar.

3.4.2.1 Layout

The users may set up the layout of corrosion files. Select from Layout. Put the mouse on

the option, and the left will show the layout figure. See Fig. 3-16. The default layout is

"A+B+C+D(1)".

To customize the layout, click LayoutSetting in the menu bar above the image, and it

pops up Fig. 3-17. Finish the setting, and click OK.

To save the layout to the system, click Save Layout and input the name of the layout, the

layout will appear in "Layout" menu on the right toolbar. The user can select the

application.

To delete the custom layout, use the right mouse button to click over the layout in the

Layout menu, and click Delete button to delete it. The default layout option cannot be

deleted.

3.4.2.2 Display Mode

View D has 2 modes: SideView and RealShape. If the test part is a pipe, select

RealShape for View D. See Fig. 3-18.

3.4.2.3 Display Item

Set up the display items of View D as user required. There are 2 options: SideView and

RealShape. See Fig. 3-19.

3.4.2.4 DigitalGain

The description and setup are the same as 3.2.2. The image refreshes with the

adjustment. When DataSource is Depth, adjusting DigitalGain will not regenerate a C/D

image.

3.4.2.5 DataSource

The description and setup are the same as 3.2.3. Change DataSource, and the image is

regenerated.

3.4.2.6.1 GateSetting

The user can change GateLogic, GateStart, GateWidth, GateThresh, MeasPoint,

MeasItem, MeasMode in GateSetting, in which MeasItem is for the measurement content

displayed at the top right of View A, and other options are related to the generation of C/D

images.

SA is for measure point sound path of Gate A.

SAB is for the value of |SA-SB|.

Rebuild is to refresh C image.

GateReset is to restore the gate-related information to system settings.

Cancel is to cancel the setting and restore to the state before entering.

Close is to close the current window without saving.

3.4.2.6.2 LayerColor

Tip:When DataSource is set Depth, LayerColor setting is available for C and D

images. If DataSource is set Amplitude, only ColorScale setting is available.

The "LayerColor" window is divided into three areas: list and select area, adjust area and

color preview area.

Add: To add the setup layers to the "list and select area", with up to 8 layers can

be set up.

Modify: To select the layer to be modified from the list, and modify parameters for

that layer in the adjust area.

Delete: To select the layer color to be deleted. Click to delete the checked color

layer.

OK: To confirm the modification after color setup and preview. Close the window

and refresh C image.

Cancel: To cancel the modification and restore to the state before entering.

Default: restore to the factory default settings.

3.4.2.6.3 Sectional Setting

To perform sectional setting of View D, capture the start and end positions to be displayed.

The user may drag the mouse over the workpiece simulation figure of View D to determine

the start position and end position. The right of the arrow displays the current scale in real

time.

3.4.2.7 Zoom Type

According to the zoom type setup, the image is adjusted automatically to the display.

Zoom type set up is not for image A and B, but for Image C and D.

Note: clicking the right mouse button on the view to display the menu.

FitAxesDir: The image is zoomed in axial direction.

FitScanDir: The image is zoomed in encoder scan direction.

FitDepth: The image is zoomed in depth direction.

FitSize:The image is zoomed in any type (without proportional restriction).

System:Consistent with image generation.

3.4.2.8 Display

Set up the display items for each view. For View D, the display can be set: SideView and

RealShape.

Note: Click the right mouse button on the view to display the menu.

3.4.2.9 PositionSetting

The coordinate of the image for View C can be adjusted for easy observation. Click the

right mouse button on the image, and the setup screen is as shown in Fig. 3-24.

The coordinate for each file of View C can be adjusted. Select the subfile number to be

adjusted from File, and the step for coordinate adjustment (HorStep, VerStep). Use the

four directional buttons to change the coordinate start position. Long press it to change

quickly.

3.4.3 Measure

A-scan echo measurement: click Measure->AWaveEcho in the menu bar, select the gate

and perform measurement. Or use the mouse to click the hotkey Gate A/B/C to finish gate

measurement.

Select A scan lines on B image. Use the mouse wheel to change the A scan line position,

and the measure line positions on A and C images are updated accordingly..

C/D image measurement: Right click Measure in the menu bar, and select PA-Rectangle,

and you may perform rectangle measurement on the CScan image. Or click the hotkey

Measure Rectangle to finish rectangle measurement.

Note:Rectangle measurement for corrosive CScan files is available for CScan

images only, but no measurement for AScan and BScan images.

3.4.3 MeasureResult

The measurement results of the image are displayed below the MeasureView, the left of

the window displays a thumbnail of the measured image (that can be hidden), and the

right displays the specific measured data. See Fig. 3-25.

Operation of TOFD Files

4.1 Open and Close Files

4.1.1 Open A File

Start SuporUp. There are 3 ways to open a file.

1) Select File -> Open from the menu.

2) Press the hotkey Open,

3) Select + File from the FileParameter window on the right.

Find the directory storing SUPOR or SyncScan instrument files from the pop-up window,

and then double click the TOFD record file (*.trec) or parameter file (*.tdat) to open it. See

Fig. 4-1.

The parameter file includes A-scan echo images only, which is for file parameter setup in

scan review, and simple A-scan image functions.

Tip: The user can open multiple TOFD files in the software at the same time.

4.1.2 Close A File

There are 3 ways to close a file.

1) Select File -> Close, and select the desired file name to close the file.

2) Click the hotkey Close to close the file directly.

3) Select - All or Checked from the file parameter window to close it.

Note:Select "- All" to close all files; Select -Checked to close the selected file

only, after using the mouse to click the file to be closed.

4.2 Change Imaging Direction

Click the hotkey Direction-Portrait or Direction-Landscape in the menu bar above the

image to change the imaging direction of TOFD images.

4.3 LW Reference Line Setup

Use the mouse to click the measure line with LW, and the LW reference line (in a dotted ine)

is selected. Move the mouse cursor to the position where the lateral wave is to be set, click

the left mouse button to confirm and finish the LW reference line setup. See Fig. 4-2, Use

the menu ColorAndLine to set up the line size and color.

Note:After selecting the "LW" reference line, use the keyboard direction buttons

to fine tune the reference line position.

4.4 Color Scale Setup

Double click the color scale on the right of the image, as shown in Fig. 4-2, to bring up the

color scale window. The user can set up the proper color scale for display.

4.5 Toolbar Features

The menu bar above the image is general menu settings for all files. See Chapter 2 for

details. See the figure below for the toolbar of TOFD files.

4.5.1 Play

1) Click the play button to play back images automatically.

2) Click the stop button or to pause or stop playing.

3) Adjust the playback speed by using the fast-forward button or rewind button

, and the playback speed will be updated simultaneously.

4) When in stop state place the mouse at the play slider , hold the left button and

slide, and images are played at the slide speed. Release the button to stop

playback. See Fig. 4-4.

4.5.2 DigitalGain

The image gain range is -20.0dB20.0dB, with the step 0.5dB. Use the menu DigitalGain

to make adjustment. See Fig. 4-5.

4.5.3 ImageProcess

No processing is available for view A of TOFD images, with the menu ImageProcess

disabled.

4.5.3.1 Straightening

Straightening is used to do image processing on TOFD image lateral wave or bottom

wave area, so that part of the TOFD image will have alignment based on the lateral wave

or bottom wave of one scan line.

Here is the specific operation:

(1) Click Toolbar -> ImageProcess -> Straightening

(2) Click the left mouse button in the TOFD image area to confirm straightening the

reference scan line.

(3) Move the mouse to the desired start for straightening and click, then move the mouse

to the end for straightening and click again. The system automatically performs

straightening.

(4) To cancel straightening, press Recover to remove the straightening operation.

4.5.3.2 Filter

Filter is to do image processing on the lateral wave or bottom wave on the TOFD image

and filter the lateral wave or bottom wave of partial TOFD image.

Here is the specific operation:

(1) Click Toolbar -> ImageProcess -> Filter .

(2) Click the left mouse button in the TOFD image area to confirm filtering the reference

scan line;

(3) Move the mouse to the desired start for filter and click, then move the mouse to the

end for filter and click again. The system automatically performs filter.

(4) To cancel filter, press Recover to remove the filter operation.

4.5.3.3 SAFT

SAFT(Synthetic Aperture Focusing Technique), for post processing of TOFD images, is to

bring images more accurate and closer to the real situation. Click SAFT button on

ImageProcess, and the system automatically performs SAFT processing.

Note :SAFT processing is not available after the image is processed by

Straightening or Filter.

4.5.3.4 Recover

After image processing such as Straighten, Filter and SAFT, press Recover to restore the

image to its original state.

4.5.3.5 ZoomRestore

Note:The image can be enlarged in two ways. The ZoomRestore button applies

to local zoom-in and local zoom-out only.

1) Full-screen zoom: You can zoom in the view to the full image display window. Double

left click the mouse button on the title bar of the view window, then the entire window of

the image will be enlarged to the maximum. Double-click the title bar again to restore it to

the original size.

2) Local zoom: Select the zoom area start from the TOFD image. Hold down the left

mouse button and drag to the lower right. Now a rectangular frame indicating the selected

area appears. Release the left mouse button, and the rectangular area is enlarged to to

full screen. To zoom out to the original image size, click ImageProcess -> ZoomRestore.

On the enlarged image, hold down the left mouse button and drag to the upper left. Now a

rectangular frame indicating the selected area appears. Release the left mouse button,

and the rectangular area is zoomed out.

4.5.4 Contrast

Click Toolbar -> Contrast above the TOFD image. Select the contrast from the
drop-down menu. The contrast ranges 20%100%.

For multi-channel images, you may change the contrast of each image.

4.5.5 ArcLength

Click Toolbar -> ArcLength above the TOFD image. Select the length of the reference

arc from the drop-down menu. The arc length ranges from 1 to 100.

4.5.6 Display

The Display menu lists the items selectable for display for each view. The use may check

the menu items to be displayed as required by review and measurement.

Note: To display this menu, click the right mouse button on the view.

4.5.6.1 Measure Line

(1) Adjust the horizontal or vertical measure line individually. Left click on the horizontal

or vertical measuring line to activate it (displayed in a dotted line). Move the mouse to

the measure position and click the left mouse button again. Now the horizontal or

vertical measure line adjustment is finished.

(2) Adjust the horizontal or vertical measure line at the same time. Click the intersection

of the horizontal and vertical measure lines to activate them (displayed in dotted

lines). Move the mouse to the measure position and click the left mouse button again.

Now the horizontal and vertical measure line adjustment is finished.

4.5.6.2 Echo Amplitude Line

On an A-Scan image, the "echo amplitude line" indicates the echo amplitude peak. The

"echo amplitude line" changes with the waveform of the measure line, which cannot be

adjusted manually.

4.6 TOFD Image Measurement

4.6.1 Measurement Operation

Select Measure -> TOFD Rectangle, or click MeasureRectangle in the shortcut menu to

perform rectangular measurement of TOFD images. After the rectangular measurement is

finished, the measure results are automatically displayed in the MeasureResult window.

NOTE: No measurement of A-Scan images for TOFD files.

4.6.2 MeasureResult

The image measure result is displayed in the MeasureResult window below SuporUp

screen. Click MeasureResult to display and then hide the window. A thumbnail of the

measured image is displayed on the left or above the window. The right side displays the

data of measurement. According to the image type (A Scan or TOFD), the data display

areas are divided into different tabs, displaying measure results of each image. See Fig.

4-6.

5.1 Open and Close Files

5.1.1 Open A File

Start SuporUp. There are 3 ways to open a file.

Find the directory storing SUPOR or SyncScan instrument files from the pop-up window,

and then double click the conventional UT record file (*.urec) or parameter file (*.udat) to

open it. See Fig. 5-1.

Tip: The user can open multiple UT files in the software at the same time. The

SUPOR instrument supports opening parameter files only.

5.1.2 Close A File

5.2 Image Layout

Subject to the user operation habit, the image layout can be set as Landscape or Portrait .

Click the hotkey Landscape or Portrait to set up. See the figures in Fig. 5-2 and Fig. 5-3.

5.3 Zoom Image

Zoom Image may zoom the view to the whole image display window. Double left click the

hidden. Then double left click the title bar again to restore it to the original size.

5.4 Color Scale Selection

Double click the color scale on the right of the image to bring up the set color scale window.

The user can set up the proper color scale for display.

5.5 Toolbar Features

The menu bar above the image is general menu settings for all files. See Chapter 2 for

details. See Fig. 5-4 for the toolbar of UT files.

5.5.1 Play

1) Click the play button to play back images automatically.

2) Click the stop button or to stop playing.

3) Adjust the playback speed by using the fast-forward button or rewind

button , and the playback speed will be updated simultaneously.

4) When in stop state place the mouse at the play slider , hold the left button

slide, and images are played at the slide speed. Release the button to stop

playback. See Fig. 5-5. The play slider start position is for the scan start position

of the image.

Note: If the scan type is a cine or time based, the unit below the play slider

is a time unit (00:00); if the scan type is encoder, the unit below the

play slider is a length unit (mm).

5.5.2 Display

The menu items for different views are not the same. The user may check the menu items

to be displayed as required.

Note: Click the right mouse button on the view to display the menu.

5.5.3 Sync

If the data is multi-channel data, MeasureLine is selectable in the Sync menu. After

enabling the sync measure line, when moving the measuring line of one channel, the

measure lines for other channel are moved synchronously.

5.6 Image Measurement

5.6.1 AScan image measurement

5.6.1.1 Measure menu

After selecting AScan image window, right click the tab UT AWaveEcho in the

MeasureResult window, and select the measure items from the pop-up window.

5.6.1.2 Measurement Operation

Up to three measurement gates can be displayed at the same time in the A-Scan image

window.

(1) Gate width adjustment. Place the cursor on any side of the gate. Left click when the

cursor changes to a double arrow, and the gate is being selected (dotted line). Move

the mouse to adjust the gate size, and left click to confirm.

(2) Gate position adjustment. Place the cursor in the middle of the gate, left click when

the cursor changes to a four-way cross cursor, and the gate is being selected (dotted

line). Move the mouse to adjust the gate position, and left click to confirm.

After the gate adjustment is finished, select Measure -> AWave Echo for the gate, and

you may perform measurement for the gate; or click the gate measurement icon Gate in

the shortcut menu bar to finish measurement quickly. Now the number (1, 2, ......)

displayed at the gate refers to the number of measurement. The measurement result is

displayed on the right of the AScan image, with the font color corresponding to the gate

line color. See Fig. 5-6.

5.6.2 BScan Image Measurement

Rectangle measurement is available for BSan images. Press the hotkey Measure

Rectangle to perform measurement, with the measurement results displayed in

MeasureResult.

5.6.3 MeasureResult

5.6.3.1 Operaiton

The measurement results are displayed below the MeasureResult window, the left of the

window displays a thumbnail image of the measured image, and the right displays the

specific measured data. See Fig. 5-7.

(1) Click DeleteAll, and all the measurement results (including UT AScan and UT BScan

images) will be cleared.

(2) click DeleteChecked, and only the measurement results with the number before it

being checked are cleared.

(3) Click TxtExport to export the measurement results to a Txt file.

(4) Check the box before LeftMeasImage or PopupMeasImage . When MeasureResult is

selected, the left image area or the area above the measure window displays the

thumbnail of the measured image automatically. If not checked, the thumbnail of the

image area is not displayed but hidden.

(5) Click the right mouse button in the "MeasureResult window, and set up the items to

be displayed in the "MeasureResult window. Check before the items to display

with the left mouse button, or uncheck to cancel the display.

5.7 Record and Play Conventional UT Cine

The Conventional UT cine files saved in the instrument can be played on SuporUp

software, which is for review and playback, but not for measurement. During the playback,

the parameter information in the file parameters are updated synchronously, and the

adjusted parameters are marked out with a yellow background.

(1) Click the play button in Toolbar -> Play, and images are cycle played back

automatically.

(2) Click the stop button or to pause or stop playing.

(3) Adjust the playback speed by using the fast-forward button or rewind button

, with multiple steps available. To view the last frame directly, click , to view

the first frame click .

(4) When in stop state place the mouse at the play slider , hold the left button and

slide, and images are played at the slide speed. Release the button to stop playback.

6.1 Open and Close Files

6.1.1 Open A File

Start SuporUp. There are 3 ways to open a file.

(1) Select File -> Open from the menu.

(2) Press the hotkey Open,

(3) Select + File from the FileParameter window on the right.

Find the directory storing SUPOR or SyncScan instrument files from the pop-up window,

and then double click the TG (thickness gauge) data set (*.tgdat) or parameter file (*.tgpar)

to open it. See Fig. 6-1.

Tip: The TG data set files may show the measured thickness values (as shown

below), and the parameter files include waveform image areas only.

6.1.2 Close A File

There are 3 ways to close a file.

(1) Select File -> Close, and select the desired file name to close the file.

(2) Click the hotkey Close to close the file directly.

(3) Select - All or Checked from the file parameter window to close it.

Note: Select "- All" to close all files; Select -Checked to close the selected file

only, after using the mouse to click the file to be closed.

6.2 ColorAndLine Setup

For TG data set files, the colors of thickness and alarms can be set up in the menu

ColorAndLine. Up to 8 group settings can be set up. See Fig. 6-2.

Add: To add a new color for the setup thickness.

Modify: To select the thickness to be modified from the list, and modify

parameters of the thickness in the adjust fields.

Delete: Select the thickness color to be deleted. Click Delete to delete the

selected thickness color.

Apply: To confirm the modification after color setup and preview.

Default: To restore to the factory default settings.

Quit: To quit the modification and restore to the state before entering.

After setting, the background color of the thickness reading area changes, and the

reading at the upper right corner of the image area changes accordingly.

6.3 Thickness Reading Area

Click any reading with the mouse. The title bar above will display the information of the

current position, and the left waveform will display the image of information of the current

position.

6.3.1 Display Mode

Subject to user habit, the display mode of reading can be selected from a list or table.

6.3.2 Search

Enter the search condition in the search field, and the readings complying with the search

condition are listed in a table, and it prompts the total number that meets the condition.

6.3.3 Export Excel File

This function is to export the entire list/ table of readings to an Excel file. The display mode

when exported is the display mode (list or table) of the current reading area. After export,

the Excel will be automatically opened for review.

Users may import file information and measurement results to reports, which can be

generated automatically. Before import, please edit and manage the report templates and

user information for recall in subsequent use. See Fig. 7-1 for the report menu.

7.1 Template Manager

The user may edit and set up the report template when generating a report. The edited

templates will be automatically saved in the list, and you may open it directly upon next

use.

7.1.1 Type Selection

How to set up Data Type and Template Type.

Data Type includes: PA, TOFD, UT and TG, subject to system mode. Usually the system

will automatically select the data type according to the file opened.

Template Type includes: Word and Excel. The default template type is Word, and the user

can customize it to Excel.

7.1.2 New Template

Import: Based on the selected data type and template type, the selected template

path and related information are imported to the list. The user can choose a

template to import for use.

New Empty: Create a new blank Word / Excel report file.

New Sel: Make changes on the selected template, and create a new Word / Excel

Remove Sel: Remove the selected template from the list. But the default template

shall not be removed.

Clear List: Clear all the templates in the list except for the default template.

Remark: According to the selected data type, the remark list is popped up for user

review. All the remark key words may be copied. See Fig. 7-3.

Input the filter condition in the field "Data Filter", and the entries meeting the

condition are filtered out in the list.

Click on the title bar, and the entries can be rearranged by Index, Name or

Bookmark.

In the list, the line in blue background is level 1 menu, the line in gray

background is level 2 menu, and the line without background color is level 3

menu.

7.1.3 Template List

To list all the templates imported to the software for direct use or edit.

7.2 UserInfoManage

Some basic user information in the reports can be edited to a template for direct reference

when generating reports, without re-entering such information. For the user information

management screen, see Fig. 7-4. The left side is a list of saved user information, the

middle includes the details of selected or edited information, and the right side contains

action buttons.

1) New. Click New button to create new user information.

2) Edit. Select an entry of user information from the information save list on the

left, click Edit to edit or delete the file name, item and value for that entry.

Operation:

Click the keyword or value in the information details to bring up the options available. Click

button in the optional list to remove the option from the list. In the last column input the

item and click + button to add an item. Saving the custom added items will automatically

generate the bookmarks, which can be viewed in "bookmark preview". The user needs to

input in the "Value" column, and the entered info will be saved as a drop-down menu for the

same item, which can be selected from the drop-down menu by another user when editing

information.

Note: The new bookmark rule is "RIV_Ext_keyword". Since the bookmark

supports letters, numbers and underlines only, other characters in the

keyword are substituted by underlines.

7.3 Generate Report

Click the menu bar Report -> Generate Report, and the system pops up the report

content edit screen. See Fig. 7-5.

Template column lists the saved report templates matching the current file type. The users

can use directly or click Temp Man to quickly access the template edit screen.

UserInfo column lists all saved user information items. The users can use directly or click

Info Man to quickly access the user information edit screen. If any information in the list of

"Value" in UserInfo is changed, press Save to save the information.

Tip: For more information about template edit, see 7.1 Template Manager. For

more information about user information edit, see 7.2 UserInfoManage.

After selecting the template and user information, press Report to generate a report, and

open the report file for review. If no report is generated, press Quit to exit the Test Report

screen.

7.4 Report Now

Click the menu bar Report -> Report Now, and the software generates a report based on

the last template in use and the user information, and open report file for review.
