To Whom It May Concern,

It is my absolute pleasure to recommend Eric Lavin as a World Language

Teacher (Spanish and Italian) in secondary education.

Eric Lavin and I worked together during his Seton Hall University Clinical
Internship at North Arlington High School, where I was his clinical supervisor
from January to April 2017. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with Eric,
and came to know him as a valuable asset to any school district. Given his
classroom experience at this point in his career, he earned a proficient
teaching rating from me.

Eric consistently demonstrated professional honesty, integrity, respect and

confidentiality. He participated actively in school and community activities
(e.g. the Spanish Honors Society and after school support programs) and
attended professional in-service training, conferences, and faculty meetings.
He positively communicated with parents.
Eric reflected regularly on his teaching. He listened to and accepted my
suggestions and collaborated with his cooperating teacher on how to
improve his teaching. He worked diligently to advance his lesson planning
and class management techniques. As a result, he created comprehensive
lesson plans that include NJCCC standards, objectives aligned with the
standards, hand-on activities that allow students to experience the target
language in a variety of ways as well as use it for interpersonal,
interpretative, and presentational interactions. He also had multiple and
constant assessments which he used to provide feedback to students and
modify his teaching. An impressive strength of Erics, was his ability to
maintain a language immersion classroom.
Eric reliably demonstrated kind, caring, and respectful behavior and attitudes
towards students. He promoted a positive, safe learning environment that
recognized student needs. He understood students differing capabilities
with the target language and challenged them as well as facilitated peer
support groups. He incorporated students cultural heritage into his lessons.

Without a doubt, I confidently recommend Eric as a World Language teacher.

He is dedicated, knowledgeable, and an all-around positive, inspiring role
model for students. I know that he will be a beneficial addition to any school
district.
Please feel free to contact me at tracy.schauer@shu.edu if you would like to
discuss Erics clinical experience further. I would be happy to expand on my
recommendation.

Best wishes,
Tracy Schauer
