CONSTITUTION

BAND BUDDIES
BLUFFTON EXEMPTED VILLAGE SCHOOLS
BLUFFTON, OH

Article I. Name of Organization


The name of this organization shall be Band Buddies.

Article II. Statement of Purpose


Section 1. The purpose of Band Buddies is to boost excitement and
participation in
the music department at Bluffton Exempted Village Schools
(BEVS) by
providing a fun atmosphere for young musicians to attend
after school to learn more about music while creating
strong relationships with other members of the music
program.
Section 2. It is the responsibility of the members of Band Buddies to
uphold the
standards placed in the BEVS student handbook, as well as
being strong role models for the young students partaking
in this program.

Article III. Membership


Section 1. Elected Members
1.1 The director of Band Buddies will be a member of the
Band
Council, or another willing volunteer, who has been a
volunteer with this program for at least one year
prior, and must be present at all meetings, unless
prior arrangements with another member of the
Band Council, or another willing volunteer, has been
made.
1.2 The duties of the director include planning games
and activities
each week, providing snack each week, presenting to
the Bluffton Music Boosters in order to receive
sponsorship for the snack money, planning the Band
Buddies Banquet at the end of the year, keeping up
good moral among volunteers, and providing a fun
atmosphere for those involved.
1.3 The director of Band Buddies shall be appointed on a
yearly basis,
following the election of the Band Council. Refer to
Article IV: Section 1 of the Band Buddies bylaws.
1.4Should the director not be able to fulfill his/her
duties, refer to Article IV: Section 1A of the Band
Buddies bylaws.
Section 2. General Membership
2.1 Any student involved with either the Bluffton High
School band or
orchestra is able to become a volunteer for Band
Buddies.
2.3 Volunteers must be able to attend at least 80% of all
meetings. If
one is not able to attend, notice must be given to the
director of Band Buddies at least 24 hours in
advance.

Article IV. Committees


Section 1. The director of Band Buddies has the right to form
committees if that is
what he/she believes will better the effectiveness of this
program.

Article V. Advisors
Section 1. Band Buddies will have an advisor who is a member of the
music
department at BEVS.
Section 2. Band Buddies shall select an advisor based upon whoever,
in the music
department, is willing to oversee this program and he/she
may serve for however long as he/she wishes.

Article VI. Method to Amend Constitution


Section 1. Any active member of Band Buddies may propose
amendments to be
made to the constitution.
Section 2. In order to propose an amendment to the constitution,
members must
present desired change, with adequate reason, to the
director of Band Buddies.
Section 3. All proposed changes shall be announced to members at
the end of each
meeting.
Section 4. Upon announcement of proposed changes, members may
vote upon
whether or not this change should occur (a 2/3 vote of the
membership is required to pass amendment).

Article I. Membership
Section 1. Any member of the Bluffton High School band or orchestra
is able to
volunteer for Band Buddies. The duration of this program is
determined by the director of each year. The first date for
this year is January 12, 2017, thus all forms must be signed
and returned by that date.
Section 2. Active members will receive at least one
elementary/middle school buddy
whom they will be responsible for and will provide a lesson
for each week.
Section 3. If a member has been inactive for at least 50% of the
meetings he/she will
be asked to remove themselves from the Band Buddies
program.

Article II.Committees
There are currently no additional committees in Band Buddies,
but this may be
changed at the discretion of the director.

Article III. Finances


Section 1. The ultimate responsibility for financial obligations of Band
Buddies rests
with the director.
A. A presentation by the director must be made to
the Bluffton Music Boosters in order to receive
compensation for what was spent on snacks for
the program.

Article IV. Elections


Section 1. There is no formal election for the Band Buddies program,
instead the
election conducted for the Band Council determines the
director.
A. It is the duty of the Band President to assume the
directorship of Band Buddies. If he/she does not
wish to assume this role, then he/she must find
another willing volunteer who has participated in
the Band Buddies program at least one year prior
to assume this role for him/her.
Article V. Meetings
Section 1. Band Buddies will meet every Thursday during the school
year, starting
and ending when the director deems necessary. Notice of
at least one week shall be given stating the start and end
weeks of this program.
Section 2. If the director is unable to attend a meeting, he/she must
either find
another willing volunteer active in the program to assume
the directors responsibilities for that week, or give at least
24 hour notice to all those involved that there will be no
meeting, and have an announcement made in both the
elementary and middle schools so that the children
involved can find a way home.
Article VI. Method to Amend Bylaws
Section 1. Any active member of Band Buddies may propose change,
with adequate
reason, to amend these bylaws.
Section 2. Any proposed changes, with adequate reason, must be
presented to the
director of Band Buddies.
Section 3. Any proposed changes to these bylaws shall be announced
after each
league date.
Section 4. 2/3 vote of the membership is required to pass amendment.

Article VII. Quorum


Two-thirds of Band Buddies members constitutes a quorum. A
quorum is needed
to conduct votes (amendments to the constitution/bylaws).

Article VIII. Parliamentary Authority


The rules contained in the current edition of Roberts Rules of Order Newly
Revised shall govern the Band Buddies program in all cases to which they are
applicable and in which they are not inconsistent with these bylaws and any
special rules of order the league may adopt.
