When someone over think what to say next.

He thinks many different ways


to say something before the phrase leaves his mouth and ended up being
quiet, stuffy and boring. He tends to talk slowly, and pause for a long time
before responding. He takes a long time to make his points, dragging
conversations on.

When someone keeps saying Um, ah and uh, they are indicating to
the listener, I am still talking. I am not finished yet but havent thought of
which words to use next. To the audience, the speaker sounds unsure,
nervous and boring.

When someone shows little enthusiasm in the topic, he speaks in a


monotone voice using normal volume, speed and tone, which makes him
sound boring. Also, he will engage in very little eye contact and behave in a
very inexpressive way.

When someone talks too much and is the only one talking in the
conversation. The audience will get bored easily if the speaker does not
engage his audience in the conversation as they are lacking of
opportunities to share their opinions.

When a speaker is "constant" and doesn't introduce elements of change


into the environment the audience has trouble paying attention and
focusing. For example, someone who stands with the same posture and
speaks in a fairly consistent tone of voice lulls people to sleep.

mentally. He is a successful motivational speaker because of his empathy;
he is always able to put himself in the shoes of his listeners. That is, he
fully understands the worries, concerns, challenges, fears, and hopes of
their listeners. He is passionate in giving speeches to inspire his listeners
and motivate them to achieve positive results.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is an American actor, businessman, former


professional bodybuilder, and an inspirational speaker. He is famous for the
movie Terminator. His speech is powerful, energetic, empowering and
inspirational. He is confident and has a good grasp of powerful language.
He is bold enough and does not care about critics. His speeches talk about
how success can be difficult to obtain. But, you have to be stubborn and
willing to conquer any obstacles you may encounter. His speeches give me
excitement as he includes stories and experiences from real life that
inspire.
Tell a captivating story. Storytelling is among the most powerful tool to hold
audience attention as lessons learned draw audience in, remind them of
their own lives. The story can be about the speaker personally, which tells
the audience first-hand why youre passionate about the topic. The story
launches the speech and captivates listeners, and let audience to gain or
feel something.

Ask a rhetorical thought-provoking question for persuasive effect. When


crafted and delivered well, rhetorical questions influence an audience to
believe in the position of the speaker. In addition, you can also arouse
curiosity and motivate your audience to think about the answer.

Show a gripping photo. Use photos instead of text, when possible. A quality
photo adds aesthetic appeal, increases comprehension, engages the
audiences imagination, and makes the message more memorable. This
visual metaphor creates a creative, productive brainstorming session that
inspired the audience.

Play a short video. Videos evoke emotional responses. Videos can employ
people, pictures, and sound to reel in the audience, add drama, and
communicate the gist of your message quickly. Video can educate people
to learn something about the message the speaker is trying to deliver.

Repetition. Non-verbal signs are important as it puts more emphasis and


reinforcement to the things being said. When you are angry and your body
language also shows you are, then the person who is being scolded will feel
afraid.
Contradiction. Non-verbal signals can be contradictory to what is being
said. Contradiction is important to know emotions of the people involved.
For instance, when you ask someone and he/she says that they are fine but
are crying or having sad expressions.
Substitution. They can substitute for a verbal message. Communication can
be done without speaking. For example, a person's eyes can often convey a
far more vivid message than words do. Gestures with fingers, hands and
arms.
Complementing. Non-verbal communication mostly works complimentary
to verbal signals. For example, people in pain say that they are in pain
whereas their expressions and gestures also say the same thing.
Accenting. Non-verbal cues can act as a way to emphasize certain points in
a conversation. If you want to point or underline a specific part of message,
then you use some signs which show that you mean it. For example, you
can pound a fist on table to show it is said with power or anger.
Facial expressions. The human face is able to express emotions without
saying a word. They are universal. The facial expressions for happiness,
sadness, and anger are the same across cultures. Body movements and
posture. The way you move and carry yourself communicates a wealth of
information to the world. This type of nonverbal communication includes
your posture, bearing, stance, and subtle movements. Gestures. We often
express ourselves with gestures without thinking. However, the meaning of
gestures can be very different across cultures and regions, so its important
to be careful to avoid misinterpretation. Eye contact. The way you look at
someone can communicate many things, including interest, affection,
hostility, or attraction. Eye contact is also important in maintaining the flow
of conversation and for gauging the other persons response.
