Instructions: Please use the following question prompts to frame your speaker feedback report. Present your
report as a narrative, as you would do if you were writing this like a literature review section for your
dissertation. Do not present your review in the text boxes below.

The speaker talked about how manufacturing electronic components can be looked at in a different
perspective to make them smaller. At Center for Electronics Manufacturing and Assembly, with
Project Summary equipment such as a stencil printer, researchers are able to research on how to make electronics
smaller.

This is vitally important to the digital word of today as every human on the planet owns a cell phone
Broader Impacts now. The speaker talked about how electronics manufacturing has a lot of drawbacks and how many
companies do not make profit.

Being a failure analyst for 12 years, the speakers main task was to help giant consumer electronics
companies, like Apple and Samsung, find out how their products had failed. He seeks to apply his
Intellectual Merit knowledge and blend it with the gamut of infrastructure available on the RIT campus to change the
way electronics are manufactured, and how they can be made smaller by just tweaking with the
manufacturing techniques.

Yes the speaker talked about how silicon wafers warp when heated and how he had researched with
different orientation of the wafer during heating. There is a clear connection between what the
Activities speaker proposes to do, i.e., decrease the failure in electronics without increasing the cost of the end
product, and what work CEMA is involved in.

The speaker is the director of CEMA where he has a number of state-of-the-art equipment required to
manufacture electronics. At certain points in the talk, he also mentioned the high-end machines
Resources available at CEMA are not easily accessible to most manufacturers. It seemed that CEMA employs a
number of student researchers for this work, and the speaker also seemed enthusiastic about
collaborating with any interested parties from the audience.

A number of studies and data were presented by the speaker to support his idea of what is wrong with
Literature Citations the electronics manufacturing currently. Sufficient citations were present in his slides to inform the
audience about where the data was collected from.
