Note:
ECOLINE EST 150-600 (TB) The pressure/temperature rating of valve body materials is
specified by ASME B16.34, however, for soft-seated ball
NPS 2-24 valve, the allowable working temperature is limited by the
Class 150, 300, 600 ultimate temperature of resilient materials, such as PTFE,
Flanged Ends or Butt-Weld Ends RPTFE etc. please consult with KSB sales for details.

- Double Block and Bleed (DBB)
When the valve is closed, the upstream side seat seal
will block flow from upstream to body cavity, and the
downstream side seat seal will also block flow back
from downstream to body cavity, this is so-called
Double Block.
When the valve is closed, the medium left in body
cavity, in case the pressure of medium in body cavity
increased, due to, i.e. temperature increasing, the
medium pressure will push seats of upstream and
downstream away from ball to make medium in body
cavity flow to both sides of pipeline and relief its
pressure.
A bleed valve (bleed plug in below picture) can also bleed the excessive pressure in body cavity in cases. The bleed
valve either drain or vent deposited mediums in bottom of body cavity to prevent damage to seat or ball.
While testing sealing performance for seat seal, any leakage can be checked at the bleed valve.
A typical Block Seat design is as below.

- Emergency Sealing Device


For NPS 6 inch and above ball valve, the emergency sealing injection devices are provided on shaft and seats. While
O-rings are damaged accidently for shaft and seat seals, the corresponding sealant can be injected through the
injection devices to prevent leakage of medium to atmosphere and/or upstream and downstream pipeline.
This device can also be used for flushing to clean seats or lubricating them.

- Fire Safe Design


In case of fire, O-rings and seals made of PTFE, NBR or other non-metallic materials could be decomposed or
damaged under high temperature, the medium pressure will push metal seat to ball and form metal-to-metal seals
between seat and ball, to effectively control valve leakage.
The fire safe design conforms to API 607, API 6FA, BS 6755 and other standards.

- Anti-static Device
The ball valve is with anti-static device. The device forms a channel between the ball and body directly or through the
shaft, to discharge the static electricity produced by friction between ball made of metal and seats made of soft
materials, like PTFE, during operation, which will avoid fire or explosion caused by static spark.

- Double Isolation and Bleed (DIB)


Upon request from customer or for specific application, the DIB design can be provided. The design is based on double
piston effect.
While DIB seats applied, the seats of upstream and downstream will isolate medium flow from upstream and/or
downstream pipeline to body cavity and from body cavity to upstream and/or downstream pipeline.

Isolation Seat Configuration


In such case, the pressure of medium in body cavity cant be relieved to both
side of pipeline, a pressure relief valve has to be installed on valve body, the
connection dimension refer to API 6D clause 7.9. Configuration refers to below
picture.

Attention: the medium through pressure relief valve will directly enter into air, if
environment is not allowed, the upstream seat seal shall be block design, refer
to below picture.

- Combination of Block and Isolation Seats (B&I)
A combination seats is block type seat for upstream and isolation seat for downstream, refer to below picture.

At normal working condition, the primary sealing on upstream is used for valve. When the primary sealing was
damaged, the secondary sealing on downstream will start to work for valve sealing.
When valve is closed, pressure of medium left in isolated body cavity can be relieved to upstream automatically while it
become high enough, refer to below picture.
