Backup to Iomega REV drives

Summary

This article explains how to backup to Iomega REV drives. This type of external drive can be a
bit confusing for many users as the Iomega REV drives are formatted with the UDF filesystem.
Depending on your version of Windows, Backup4all might see the Iomega REV drive as a
CD/DVD/Blu-ray device.

Details

REV is a removable hard disk storage system from Iomega. The small removable disks store 35,
70, or 120 gigabytes and are based on the hard-drive technology. Like a standard hard drive, the
REV system uses a flying head to read and write data from a spinning platter. The removable
disks contain the platter, spindle and motor, while the drive head and drive controller are
contained within the REV drive. Current drives allow data transfer rates of about 25 megabytes
per second. These characteristics make them suitable to be used as external backup destinations.
