Introduction:

Domestic violence can occur regardless of race, age, religion or gender, and

Domestic violence against women is especially serious and vulnerable. Domestic

abuse is still thriving in China. According to a study by United Nations women in

China, more than a quarter of wedding women who have experienced domestic

violence more than one time, but experts say the figure is much higher - up to 40%.

And there are more detailed data in the survey conducted by the All-China

Women's Federation which shows that about 30% of China's 270 million

households have domestic violence. 1 Interestingly, some people argue that we can

deal with this issue easily just via the Domestic Violence Law, the countrys

landmark first bill against domestic violence, passed by the government in 2016. I

would argue that the law indeed has a positive effect on anti-domestic violence

against women, but the government should revise the current law to protect

womens interest and prohibit domestic violence because the legislative protection

is not enough.
