Laptop with internet access(videos and pictures)

Assessment/Rubrics
Students will be formally assessed through teacher questioning.
A summative assessment will be taken on the presentation and
quality of the students flip book.

IMPLEMENTATION
Introduction to Lesson Ask students what is the difference between weather and
climate? Show students a picture of a tropical
environment, a temperature environment, and an article
environment. Ask them what is the climate like in the
picture? What is the weather like in this picture?

Teacher Input
Have students make a T chart with weather on one side and
climate on the other. Re Watch the video above and fill in the T
chart based on the information given. Students should recognize
and have written on their chart that weather is the current
weather conditions at a specific place at a special time.

Guided Practice
I will tell students that they will responsible for learning more
about the difference in climates by reading several teacher pick
books.

The teacher will then guide the students in setting up their flip
book and expelling what is expected in each section: The
students will then create a flip book based on the three climates.
Their flip book will be divided into three different sections. Flip
up and illustrate the zone, underneath they will divide that
square in half, oneside will be a summary of the climate in that
specific zone and the other wil have two facts.

Independent Practice
Students will break into groups and begin
reading teacher selected books. After
reading they will then start filling out the flip
books.

Closure Students will then present their flip books to the class.
They will then create a 1,2,3 exit slip, 1 thing that you still
have a question about, 2 things that surprised you, 3
things you learned from this activity

Time Allotment 2 class periods

Instructional Materials Teacher selected texts pictures from the internet, white
paper colors, rulers scissors.
