LESSON FOCUS: Cooperative Games/ team work

STUDENT PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES: By the end of this lesson, the students should be able to:
1.) Psychomotor: Engage in all activities by actively contributing to solving a problem throughout the lesson when observed
by the teacher (MACF 2.2)
2.) Cognitive: Identify the most effective way to solve a problem in a group when by succeeding on at least two activities
throughout the lesson (MACF 2.5).
3.) Affective: Demonstrate respect and sportsmanship to classmates by giving positive feedback to peers at least once
throughout the lesson while observed by the teacher (MACF 2.7)

Activity One: Back to Back


Informing: Students will get with a partner that they can work well
with. With their partner they are to find space and sit down with their
backs to each other and their arms linked together. Their goal is to

stand up together as one.

Demonstration: Have students stand back to back and try to sit
down

Application: Students will get in partners and participate in activity

Skill Cues/Key Points:


-signal when you are going to start moving down
-move slowly, at the same pace as your partner
-distribute your weight evenly

Extension Up: Sit down and then back stand up


Extension Down: face forward and lean against your partner with
arms facing out, students should be several feet away from each
other

Activity 2: Mat Race

min The students will be arranged into groups of 10
Unfold and fold the mat race: Have all the students in each group
stand on a folded mat. On go.. students jump off onto the floor
unfold the mat completely and hop back on
Repeat twice for corrections

Demonstration: Teacher will show students how to play a round

Extension Up: Put all students in the class on one mat


Extension Down: make smaller groups
Teacher Positioning: Teacher will circulate around the perimeter of
the area with back to the wall observing the students and giving
feedback

Transition/ Debrief: What was challenging?


In the second round, did you do anything different?

Activity 3: Desert Island


20-35 Using groups of 8 people, students will travel from island to island
Min without touching the ground. On go the students must find a new
island. Each round the teacher will remove one mat, and insist the
students help each other to a new mat

Extension Up: Allow students to use scooters to travel


Extension Down: allow students to take one step on the ground

Closure: review the behaviors and expectations of the students.


Introduce the students into the concept of working together for the
upcoming lessons.

Debrief- discuss strategies with students. Ask them:
