As my first block of professional experience
was with kindergarten in their first weeks of
school, it was important to create lesson
experiences that were engaging and
supportive to their learning. In various
lessons, I use a wide variety of resources to
engage all students needs. Resources that I
used include ICT, concrete materials and
written work. Throughout this placement
block, I also used effective classroom
communication with the new
kindergarteners when explaining tasks as
they were settling into school.

Throughout my placement,
constant use of different
materials was included in my
planning and implementation of
lessons (APST 3.4).
My mentor teacher commented:
You have varied the type of
learning activities and used some
different lesson formats in your
planning (concrete materials, ICT,
written work). This allows you to

a range of learning styles and
abilities in a variety of contexts.

whilst supporting students

kindergarten class who are still
