b. 3-4partnershipsshareout.Aspartnershipsshare,teacherencouragesstudentstorespondbyagreeing,disagreeing,
orofferinganexample.
2. MiniLesson(10mins)
a. TeacherintroducestheActionPlan:Today,wewilldesignactionplansthatwillhelpusmeettheUnitChallenge.
b. TeachersharesActionPlandocument.ReviewsamodelActionPlanwiththeclass.
c. TeacheranswersanyquestionsstudentshaveabouttheActionPlan.
3. Workshop(15mins)
a. Studentshave15minutestodrafttheiractionplansindividually.Duringthistime,theteachercirculatestheroom,
assistingstudentsasneeded.Basedontheirobservations,theteacherwillselect3studentstoparticipateinafishbowl
discussionwiththepurposeofrefiningtheirActionPlans.
4. FishbowlDiscussion(10mins)
a. 3studentssetupinthefrontoftheroom,facingeachotherinacircle.Therestoftheclasswillobservethediscussion,
usingwhattheylearntomakerevisionstotheirownActionPlans.
b. FishbowlparticipantsengageinamodifiedversionoftheFinalWordprotocolwiththepurposeofrevisingtheir
ActionPlans:
i. StudentAhas1minutestosharetheirActionPlan.
ii.StudentsBandCeachhave30secondstorespond.Studentscanofferwarmorcoolfeedbackoraskaquestion
aboutStudentAsplan.
iii. AfterStudentsBandChaveresponded,StudentAgets1minutetohavethefinalword,reflectingonthe
feedbacktheyreceivedandmakingnoteofrevisionstobemadetotheActionPlan.
iv. Theprocessrepeatswiththeothertwostudents.
5. Summary(15mins)
a. BasedonwhattheyobservedintheFinalWordfishbowldiscussion,studentshave15minutestorevisetheirAction
Plans.
b. StudentssubmittheircompletedActionPlanstotheteacherontheirwayoutoftheclassroomasanexitticket.
