DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNMENT

Clarkston is a northern suburb of Detroit. The high school houses grades 10-12. The student
population is around 2,100 students. There are around 100+ staff members to support the
students.

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS

From the first day Josh was a part of the staff. He easily fit in with his co-workers. He
consistently participates with all staff development and works well with his colleagues.

CLASSROOM CLIMATE AND MANAGEMENT

Josh is a natural in the classroom. He is comfortable with students and they respect his presence.
He was comfortable talking with students even if it was in a disciplinarian way. He was not
timid which many new teachers are in that type of situation. He rarely has any issues with
classroom management. Due his organization, his classroom runs smoothly.

INSTRUCTIONAL PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION

Josh is a meticulous planner and it shows in well written lessons. He takes time to link all
lessons to the state standards to ensure that students are receiving the necessary content. Josh is
not afraid to ask clarifying questions and to receive constructive criticism well. He is able to
reflect on lessons to see where his strengths and weaknesses were and then adjusts. Bravo!
INSTRUCTIONAL PLANNING AND INCORPORATION OF TECHNOLOGY TO
ENHANCE STUDENT LEARNING

Josh has integrated technology when appropriate. Clarkston does not have state of the art
technology so this is a struggle in our building for all teachers. He did well with what we have
available and I see him excelling in this area in the future with the proper tools.

EVALUATION

Josh is ready to take on the role of classroom teacher and will be an asset to any district. Josh is
above and beyond many of my past student interns. There are just some people who you know
are going to be excellent teachers and Josh is one of those people. He was born to be a teacher.
We highly recommend him for any social studies position in all content areas.

COMMAND OF SUBJECT MATTER

Josh is a new teacher and learning content all the time. He is diligent about learning the content
so he can explain concepts to the students. Command of subject matter comes with time and
Josh will only improve in this area. He has no problem doing research on the topic he is teaching
and does so in a timely manner.

PERSONAL QUALITIES

Josh is simply an awesome young man! He is kind and considerate and the students can relate to
him. It is his hard working personality that is going to make him an excellent teacher. He is
empathetic which is something that is a must have in our profession.

PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES

Josh consistently was professional in all aspects of the job. He dressed professionally and treated
staff members with respect. He was on time and prepared everyday. He knows how to engage
with students at a professional level.
