Describe how you would use the Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity in
your classroom:
The students will create their own stories. They can either write a personal story that
actually happened to them, or they can use their imagination and create a story. Once the
students have created and edited their stories, they will post their stories online to the KidPub
website. After the students have posted their own stories, they will read someone elses story on
KidPub. Then, the students will write something they enjoyed about that students writing and
pose a question they have about the writing as well.
What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity in a
classroom?
Computers, Chromebooks, or laptops
Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience (note: all of them
may not be addressed in the project, but most should be if you are reaching a high LoTi Level.):
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom and often
beyond their school:
Students will post their stories online to the KidPub website which will
allow other students or teachers to read what they have written. The
students will also read other students stories and write them messages
with comments and/or questions about what they have written.
b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting original data and or
producing original products as a result of engaging in the project):
The students will be creating their own stories.
c. Higher-order thinking:
The students will be challenged to create multiple characters and events
that happen in their story, using lots of descriptive details and linking
words.
d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about their
product:
The students will be publishing their work online to KidPub. KidPub allows
students to share their work with other students and teachers. The stories
on KidPub can also be entered into contests to win prizes.

Remembering Understanding Applying Analyzing Evaluating Creating
What Level of Technology Implementation best describes this learning activity and Why?
This assignment is between a Loti level four and five, because the students are creating a
writing piece and posting it online for others outside of the classroom to read.
How could you implement this proposed learning experience and still comply with your districts
Internet Safety and Student Privacy policies?
KidPub is a student safe website, but for extra precaution, the teacher will select specific
stories that the students are allowed to read. This will make sure that the students are able to
read the story without much difficulty, and are also reading things that are appropriate for their
age range. For the students personal safety, the teacher will make sure that they only use their
first name or nickname when publishing their own story. The teacher will also make sure that if
the student wrote a personal story, they are not sharing any vital information about themselves;
if they do, the teacher will have the students change the names of the characters in the story.
