INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES
1. This paper consists of five questions: two on Module 1, two on Module 2 and one
on Module 3.
2. You MUST answer THREE questions: one from Module 1, one from Module 2,
and question 5 which is compulsory.
SECTION A
EITHER
1. Identify FOUR 'cultural traits' that are believed to be common in the Caribbean. Examine these
'cultural traits' to show how they have arisen from the cornmon experiences of Caribbean people.

2. Identify FOUR values that are associated with education in the Caribbean. Explain how these
values have shaped your choices and behaviours. Total 20 marks

EITHER
3. Describe the contribution of tourism, and the challenges it poses, to development in the region.

4. Explain what is meant by 'technology' and show the varieties of ways in which culture is being
influenced today by evolving technologies. Total20 marks

5. Some school principals in the Caribbean have concluded that watching television has resulted in
an increase in violence in the eleven - to sixteen-year-old age group in the schools.
(a) Based on the above conclusion, structure a research question that reflects the problem to be
investigated. [ 4 marks]
(b) (i) List SIX questions that you would use in a questionnaire in order to collect data
specific to the investigation. [ 6 marks]
(ii) Identify TWO methods you would use to Present your data. [ 2 marks]
(c) Present an outline of the plan that you would use to conduct the various stages of your
investigation. [ 8 marksl
